Modding inBaldur’s Gate 3might be easier than ever, but as it becomes more accessible, making choices about which mods you’ll download has only become more difficult. Which beard will make your dwarven ancestors proud? Does this eye mod have too many options?
Rather than have you scour through the dredges of Nexus and mod.io, these are some of the best customization mods out on the market. Whether you’re a hellish tiefling, a deadly dragonborn or your run-of-the-mill human, there’s a little something for everyone out there, and the time for making the character of your dreams starts here.

more beards for Dwarves,Heir of thunder - Thrud’s Hairstyle
There is nothing more important to a dwarf than their beard, and that’s why having choices to spice up your face’s most important feature is worth the investment. Thankfully, Bububull has you covered, even if you’re not a dwarf, with their beard series.

This mod features eight new choices for your big, bulky, luxurious beards, from braided to bejeweled and everything in between. If you find your beautiful beard getting in the way of your axe, thankfully there is a second add-on option for an additional eight styles with their more beards for Dwarves add-on.

If you’re tired of your profile picture not capturing the true essence of your character from the moment you begin your game, you’ll want to consider the Portrait Pose Pack.

The mod works by inserting your character into the same pose as another NPC portrait. Unfortunately, you cannot mix-and-match body types, meaning a gnome character won’t get to pose as dearest Karlach. However, if you’re an elf that thought Orin’s pose was especially invigorating, you’re able to capture her aesthetic in a self-insert portrait. Just don’t tell Lae’zel thatShadowheart is using her portrait.

Tattoo Collection by Mari (Nexus),Tattoo Parlor
With so few tattoo options on Console and a slightly less sparse pick on the Nexus, it’s refreshing to see such a solid option for body-art. Completely customizable in colour and with four packs and nearly 60 new options, you’re able to make an entire story for your unique character in body-art alone.
Thankfully, for those who don’t want a replacer option, there is compatibility with the Unique Tav mod. And for those who want more than tattoos on their face, there are body tattoo options also made by lushlemonx3.

Kylin’s Piercings
Available only through mod.io, Leicarna’s Piercings give coloured varieties of unique earring sets you won’t want to pass up. Whether you’re a serrated-eared gith or a round-eared dwarf, you’ll have the ability to catch anyone’s eye with these crystal goodies.
For those who aren’t inspired by beautiful, crystal earrings (who are you?), you may add Kylin’s Piercings to broaden your jewelry selection and create a library of options that will have youspending another twenty minutes in character creation- if you’re ever able to leave it.

Vanilla CC Colours For All Sections
Greatly expanding the potential of horns, hair, makeup, and tattoos, Crazy Color pack adds 200 new colours to your customization palette. This mod uses no vanilla textures or colours, making it completely unique. Want your Dragonborn horns to be neon green? Done. Your hair to be iridescent orange? Yesterday’s problem.
For even more colours, this mod is completely compatible with padme’s “Vanilla CC For All Sections.” Both are found on Nexus and on consoles, meaning you’ll be turning your characters into walking art pieces in no time.

Kylin’s Horns,Saer’s Horns,Alternate Tiefling Tails,Alternate Tiefling Horns,P4 Patches
Horns are a dime-a-dozen for customization, but few have the range of colour options and opportunities as Some New Horns - a name that does not betray the creativity of its options. The greatest benefit of this particular mod is the ability to give gradient colouring to the horns, giving your tieflings a little extra pizzazz.
For those wanting some more options, Alternate Tiefling Tails and Horns will both be great additions to your modlist for tieflings (also available on Console), and Kylin’s Horns exists for the creative and Saer’s Horns exist for your spicy druids.

Ione’s Clerical Eyeglasses
Glasses not being available from the outset seems like a bit of an oversight. Thankfully, this mod brings a little more clarity to character creation by offering 12 new options to give your character a little more immersion.
Unfortunately, all of these very cool glasses and goggles are 100 percent for the aesthetics, so if you’d like a pair of glasses with a bit more practical utility, we suggest downloading Ione’s Clerical Glasses which allow you to see a little more than what’s on the page.
Do not press randomize when using this mod or you will crash the game.
Pearl,Dragonborn Extra Tabs - Horns and Hair
Complete with unique animations and special coloured options and available on both Nexus and consoles, there is nothing one could want more than AkElka’s Seadragon Assets collections. In fact, those who want unique dragonborn options need not look any further than AkElka’s mod page.
With several new dragonborn head presets (such as Pearl or Vexa), no dragonborn in all of Faerun could ever hope to compete with your unique character. From horns to new tails (all with extended tab options),AkElka has covered every dragonborn character creation need.

Eyes of the Beholder
Feywild Eyes greatly expands your options for your windows to the soul. There are dozens of options to choose from, spanning across titles like Dread Blossom to Mirage Dragon. And if I had eye colours named like that, I’d have permanent Advantage on Charisma rolls for life.
When paired with Eyes of the Beholder, you’ll be able to restart the previously disabled glowing eyes features just in case the denizens of Baldur’s Gate weren’t giving your character enough eye-contact. Your tieflings and dragonborn have never looked cooler.

Icon and Race Patches for Tav’s Hair Salon,Kay’s Hair Extensions(On Console and Nexus), Feather Braids (Console Only)
Tav’s Hair Salon, available only on Nexus, is a generally tried-and-true introduction to hair mods. With the largest selection of hair types available for any hair mod, you won’t need to branch out very far. Its greatest flaws (keeping it from ranking any higher) are its lack of availability for console and no included icon displays; you’ll have to download a patch to see what you’re cooking with.
From the consoles department, Feather Braids are a cute addition, and Kay’s Hair Extensions will add an extra layer - literally and metaphorically - to your haircare routine.
