Summary

It seems like few things, if anything at all, can stopA Minecraft Movie’s global success. Because aftersetting the record for the single biggest Opening Day for a video game adaptation, thencrossing over $300 million in its first weekend, the Jack Black-led movie is now on track for another huge box office milestone.

As it stands, A Minecraft Movie is pacing towards a $1 billion box office mark. Yes, you read that right. The movie, which has a disappointing 47 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, is likely to hit $1 billion when all is said and done.

The Chicken Jockey Can’t Be Stopped

As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, A Minecraft Movie has now crossed the $550 million mark at the global box office. Its domestic haul was $80.6 million, helping it achieve a $281 million gross in North America alone. Factor in $296.6 million from overseas markets, and you’re looking at $550.6 million.

Should its numbers continue as they are projected to, then A Minecraft Movie will be the first movie title of 2025 to hit $1 billion. Not bad for a movie thatsome expected to bomb after its initial lukewarm reveal.

Of course, hitting $1 billion at the box office isn’t what it used to be, and should A Minecraft Movie hit the mark, it would be the 59th highest-grossing movie of all time, just behind Jurassic World: Dominion, according to Box Office Mojo.

That said, its true goal is likely to pass A Super Mario Bros. and its $1.36 billion haul to become the single highest-grossing video game movie of all time. With the Easter holiday quickly approaching, and theater chains hopping in on the fun via themed Chicken Jockey screenings, never say never.
