Summary
Until DawnandThe Quarrydeveloper Supermassive Games has been fairly prolific over the past couple of years, and that doesn’t look like it’s set to change, with both Little Nightmares 3andDirective 8020set to launch at some point this year. We don’t much about the developer’s future plans, but a new report has revealed that Supermassive was reportedly working on aBlade Runnergame.
This is according to Insider Gaming, which claims that Supermassive had a game called Blade Runner: Time To Live in development, and was going to be a 10-12 hour long “character-focused, cinematic, action adventure” game that had you taking on the role of the only Blade Runner left in the year 2065.

A Next-Gen Blade Runner Has Reportedly Been Canceled
Unfortunately, we’re using the past tense here because Insider Gaming has reported that this title has already been canceled. According to the report, the game started pre-production in September 2024 and was planned for a full release in September 2027, but it was scrapped due to problems with Blade Runner rights owner Alcon Entertainment, though the exact reasoning wasn’t specified.
However, the most interesting detail about this report is that Blade Runner: Time To Live was reportedly being developed for current platforms, as well as “Gen 10” Xbox and PlayStation systems. If that’s true, it means we might start seeing both PlayStation and Xbox start gearing up for the next generation of consoles in the next year or so, which wouldn’t be too surprising given we’re almost five years deep into the current generation.

It’s also possible that the next-gen version of this Blade Runner game would have come later down the line too, since many people probably feel we haven’t even gotten the most out of the current generation of consoles just yet. In any case, it sounds like we were robbed of another cool-sounding Blade Runner game, and that’s enough of a reason to be pretty disappointed.
