Using a staff is cool, but using a gun is cooler. What could be even cooler than that? Using a Gunstaff, of course. And that’s precisely the weapon of choice of the namesake protagonist inAtelier Yumia: The Alchemist Of Memories & The Envisioned Land. With this more-than-practical weapon, Yumia can make her way through the strange, unexplored lands of Aladiss.

And luckily, she’s able to use various types of ammo during her journey to open her path when needed. And she can even make more bullets on the run if needed, as long as she learns the correct recipes for each of them.

Ammo Types, Explained

As you explore the Aladiss continent, shooting buttons and other devices is essential, as this is the only way to unlock certain doors or complete some puzzles. Butcertain obstacles can only be cleared by using specific types of Ammo, which you’ll always need to unlock first.

You canreplenish your ammo through Simple Synthesis. This consumes some of your collected materials, as well as some of your Energy Core energy, but gives you a substantial stack of extra bullets to use. The amount of bullets obtained depends on the ammo type and the obtained Skill Tree upgrades.

All ammo types (aside from the Scan Ammo) can beused against monsters, stunning them immediatelyand leaving them exposed to a Friend Action when entering battle. You should always enter battle this way whenever possible.

Don’t be too clingy to your bulletsas you may always get more ammo on the run. Stunning a monster and running away can save you some precious time at the low cost of one or two bullets.

During certain portions of the story, you’ll get recipes for special types of ammo that must be made through regular Synthesis on the Atelier. These ammo types are unique to their quests, and cannot be used regularly by Yumia.

How To Get All Ammo Types

There arefour types of Ammo in total, with two of them automatically unlocked and the other two being optional, unlockable bullets for Yumia. These two Special Ammo types aren’t necessary for completing the game, butwill make your life much easierby opening new paths around the map and giving you access to new treasures.

You automatically start with the Regular Ammo, and as soon as you learn Simple Synthesis, you can craft extra stacks for it whenever you want. You can stack up to 30 bullets on the same slot inside your bag, and it can be used for general purpose, such as activating buttons, Small Shrines and stunning enemies on the open field.

While it gets obsolete for offensive purposes once you get the Burst Ammo,it’s still the most cost-efficient ammo type to make. It’s also the most stackable ammo type, making it the perfect candidate for hitting buttons or completing puzzles most of the time.

You can unlock the Burst Ammo by completing the Ligneus Pioneering Effort tasks. They involve exploring the first region, defeating certain monsters, obtaining specific items, and reaching exploration goals around the area.

It can be obtained through Simple Synthesis, being automatically added to your bag if it has space. Unlike Regular Ammo, you’re able to only stack up to 15 bullets at once in the same slot.

Burst Ammo can be used to break Sturdy Walls. They are prominent around Ligneus, but will still appear throughout other regions, making them a very useful ammo type to have at all times. Not only that, it also deals much more damage to regular monsters than Regular Ammo (triple the damage, to be exact), making it the prime choice for starting battles.

You can get the Slicing Ammo by completing the Sivash Pioneering Effort tasks, just like the previous ammo type. These tasks are similar to the ones found in Ligneus, but demand a bit more work to complete, as they ask for much more exploration. You can have up to 15 Slice Ammo bullets in the same slot, and they’re also obtained through Simple Synthesis.

TheSlicing Ammo is your only way of breaking web formations, found primarily around Sivash. While other regions do have webs, they’re much less prominent than Sturdy Walls. Having some bullets of this ammo in your bag can be helpful, butis by no means necessary.

Scan Ammo

The other ammo type you start with. Instead of damaging enemies or activating structures,it gives you information on the target, assuming it can be scanned. This ammo type is infinite, so you won’t need to make more bullets for it.

It can give you tipson how to unlock a door or complete a puzzle when used on such objects. When it comes to enemy info,it gives you their level and possible drops. If you haven’t obtained its drops yet, they will be shown as a “?” icon instead.
