Quick Links
Assault rifles are some of the most common weapon choices for players inBlack Ops 6:Warzone, because they’re some of the most versatile. Assault rifles, at their default, are usually very strong choices in mid-range fights, and can be tinkered with to excel in either direction in the Gunsmith, as well.
Because of this, it’s very hard to find an actually bad assault rifle. Most of them are going to be fairly effective, even if they aren’t the best option. But, certain assault rifles do offer straight-up improvements over others, either in the efficacy or versatility department, making them a better choice in more situations.
Assault rifles in this list are ranked by a combination of maximum efficacy and versatility. Warzone has a wide range of scenarios in which you’ll need to be effective, making versatility a bigger concern here than in multiplayer.
S-Tier
Assault Rifles in this tier are either thebest-in-class at their greatest strengthorexcel at so many thingsthat they can be brought in just about any loadout and bring some real value.
Reason
Kilo 141
This is one of themost versatile assault rifles in the game. It can be pushed in almost any direction and maintainsgood-to-great performance no matter what you do with it.
CR-56 AMAX
This weapon hasa lot of damage potential, but with many builds, it will require a skilled hand because of how difficult it can be to control its recoil.
Cypher 091
The Cypher is a slower-firing weapon with one of the lowest firing rates around. But it doesgreat damage-per-shot and is easy to control, making it great in the hands of a player who does not miss.
This tier only contains the standouts. There are other weapons in lower tiers that can compete with them (there are rarely weapons that aren’t viable; even some lower-tier weapons can be fantastic), but these weapons either slightly outpace the competition or, in the case of the KILO, can be confidently slotted into so many load-outs that it’s a mainstay.
A-Tier
Weapons in the A-tier aren’t really that far off from the S-tier. They’re stillabsolutely fantastic at what they doand are going to be a boon to you in their ideal situations.
AK-74
The AK-74 is only in this tier because the CR-56 AMAX is in the S-tier. The AK is very slightly behind the AMAX in certain categories but is a great weapon in its own right anda fantastic mid-range option.
GPR 91
The GPR is very similar to the KILO, with stats that are slightly tilted away from control, and onto handling. It doesn’t do top-tier damage, but it’s still a very easy gun to use, and is fairly flexible.
AS VAL
The VAL has avery high fire rate, good handling, and a surprising range. It can be a bit tough to control, but if you kit this out the right way, it can compete with both SMGs and ARs in many situations.
MCW
The MCWsacrifices a higher ceiling for ease of use, making it a weapon that isn’t always going to keep pace with the highest-damage weapons. But in average competition, it is going to beat opponents simply because it’s so much easier to use than many alternatives.
Holger 556
The Holger has a bit more recoil than average and isn’t quite as easily effective in close range. Butit is one of the best mid-range optionsand packs enough of a punch to justify its position in this tier.
M13B
The M13B has ahigher-than-average rate of fire and is very easy to use. While the damage-per-shot might not be high, the damage-per-second is not lacking.
Krig C
The Krig C has a middle-tier rate of fire and some occasionally problematic recoil, but it doesslightly above-average damage with definitely an above-average range. If kitted well, it can be a force.
Ames 85
The Ames isvery comparable to the Kilo in a lot of ways, with almost the exact same base damage, with slightly worse recoil but slightly better handling.
Goblin MK2
The Goblin is good at a lot of things, with one of the only drawbacks being the wildly low rate of fire. It’s prettyeasy to keep on targetwith mostly vertical recoil to worry about, andthe handling is better than you would expect.
B-Tier
B-Tier weapons are a small drop-off from the A-tier, but theycan still dominate in the right hands. They need some focused attachments in the gunsmith to really get working well, but when built right, they can be quite good.
XM4
The XM4 isgood at most thingsand not great at anything. It’s not a bad gun, but it’s also going to be outperformed at max potential by many others. It’s extremely easy to get the most out of it, though, making it a solid mid-level gun.
Model L
This weapon hasvery good damage-per-shot despite a low rate of fire. It can be a fairly powerful option if you can keep it under control.
M4
The M4’sreal problem is the horizontal recoil, which needs to beheavily focused in the gunsmith if you want to get it more manageable. This foregoes other advantages the weapon could gain.
STB 556
If the handling weren’t as smooth asit is, the STB would be much lower on this list. Butit’s a very agile weapon, which makes up for the slightly lackluster stats in the other departments.
Tempus Razorback
The Tempus doesn’t have great damage-per-shot, but it hasa good rate of fire and very excellent handling. It can be a pretty solid weapon if you’re able to fix the horizontal recoil.
FR Avancer
The Avancer issimilar to the Tempus, but it is just a bit more extreme in terms of the rate of fire and damage department. But it’s a little easier to control, just with a bit worse handling.
M16
With it being aburst weapon, the M16 is going to be hit-or-miss, depending on the player. At its best,it has fairly good damage, handling, and recoil control, though it struggles against enemies moving horizontally from you.
MTZ-556
This weapon has agood rate of fire, making up for the lower damage-per-shot. The handling is superb, and if you can improve the control, it could be a nice choice.
SVA 545
This weaponfires the first two bullets almost simultaneously, and if not for that, it would be lower on the list. But if you keep shots on target, that’sadamage-per-second advantage, and the control and handling are strong enough that it shouldn’t be too difficult a task.
BP50
This weapon has ahigh rate of fire and a low range, making it essentially a hybrid AR/SMG. You’re usually better off choosing one or the other, butif you need a multi-purpose weapon, this is not a bad choice.
FR
This is anotherburst weapon; if you can keep it on target,it can do some fairly good damage, especially at longer-medium ranges. The recoil isn’t too rough, and with some gunsmithing on that and the handling, it can do some damage to your enemies.
C-Tier
C-tier weaponsstart to drop off a little bit. They can still be built in a way that makes them effective, but oftentimes, even when built well, they’regoing to lag slightly behind other comparable weapons.
TAQ-56
The TAQ has acceptable damage-per-shot, but itdoesn’t quite make up for the low rate of fire. It’s also not particularly easy to control, with one of the only real bright spots being the handling.
Kastov 762
The Kastov’s handling is not too sub-par, but itdoes not make up for the overall damage-per-second and lack of recoil control, particularly with the horizontal recoil.
TR-76 Geist
The Geist is on thelow end of firing rate and mid-level in terms of damage-per-bullet. If the recoil were better, it would be higher on the list, but as it is, the handling is one of the only bright spots.
Lackmann-556
There’snothing too special about the Lachmann and nothingtoo awful about the Lachmann, either. It’s just below averagein just about every department.
Kastov-74u
Thisweapon doesn’t have much going for it besides good handling, but the only truly poor aspect is the bullet velocity. In close range, it can be usable, but anything outside of that is going to be a bit rough.
STG44
A fairly middling weapon, its handling and kick reset speed are impressive, but apart from that, itdoesn’t stand out from the competition.
BAL-27
The BAL isreally bad in the damage departmentand hasmanydeficiencies when it comes to control. The handling is okay but does not make up for the rest.
RAM-7
If you can compensate for the control, theRAM is only sub-par when it comes to damage. It has good handling and is better at close range than at anything else.
DG-56
This weapon isvery easy to use, even if it isn’t particularly effective. It’s going to be out-damaged by a lot of competition, but it’s consistent and easy to get maximum value out of, especially in closer ranges.
D-Tier
There aren’t many weapons in this tier, andthat’s not to say that no one can be successful with these. But, there is little argument that anyone who is successful with these would likely bemore successful with something else.
Chimera
There aren’t really any bright spots with the Chimera. It has a slightly high rate of fire, offset bylackluster damage and poor control.
M13C
The M13Cdoes not have great controland definitelydoes not have good damage or bullet velocity.
Kastov 545
It’s not that this weapon cannot deal solid damage, butalmost every comparable option has an advantage over it in some departments. This has decent handling, but that’s about it.
