B. Jenetwas part of the new generation of characters introduced in Garou: Mark of the Wolves before the Fatal Fury series wound down. Before City of the Wolves, she only had a few King of Fighters appearances to her name.

Captain of a Robin Hood-esque crew of pirates, B. Jenet fights using the fictional Lillien Knight Arts. The style seems to be modeled on real-life Savate, a form of French kickboxing.

It’s never made clear what the B in B. Jenet’s name stands for. Some fan sites claim that it means Beauty, but this is unconfirmed.

Billy Kane is an oddball: his attitude towards Rock Howard is warm and almost fatherly, but he still seeks revenge against Terry Bogard. You see, in Fatal Fury’s extended lore, Billy Kane was Geese Howard’s personal attendant and bitterly resents his master’s death at the hands of Terry.

This character boasts a British accent and practises Bojutsu, a form of stick fighting. He’s been around since the first Fatal Fury title, and he’s still in fighting shape in City of the Wolves' advanced timeline.

If you did a double-take when you saw Ronaldo’s name in the Fatal Fury roster, we don’t blame you. The sporting mega-star is one of the most surprising inclusions in a fighting game ever, and hisfootball-based movesetis both novel and surprisingly deep. And yes, the game does feature his Siu celebration.

Though Ronaldo’s age keeps going up in real life, as ages are wont to do, his Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves incarnation is officially 23 years old. That places the footballer in his prime.

A kung fu practitioner who fights with his eyes closed, Gato was one of Garou’s most interesting debut characters. He’s maintained his fame with fans in the years since, though his revenge on his father remains undecided.

Gato is abeginner-friendly characterin Fatal Frame: City of the Wolves and boasts a cool design as well. His closed eyes are due to him relying on his senses other than sight, after an eye injury once threatened his ability to compete.

Hokutomaru is Andy Bogard’s loyal disciple and a friend to Mai Shiranui. His interactions with the two tend to be comedic: despite his best intentions, he’s still a flustered teenager working around experienced fighters.

Apart from Koppo ninjutsu, Hokutomaru also uses the Shiranui fighting style he’s been taught by Mai. He’s also stated to be close with Terry, who helped him move to the city after his rural upbringing.

Hotaru made her debut in City of the Wolves' immediate predecessor, Garou. In the 26-year gap between both games, she’s only been playable in two other games: The King of Fighters 11, and Neo Geo Battle Coliseum.

A practitioner of tai chi and baguazhang, Hotaru is looking for her missing brother when City of the Wolves takes place. She claims that Gato is her missing brother, though this is unconfirmed. The game marks her first playable appearance in years, after a long line of NPC cameos.

Kain is as harsh in his nature as he is regal in his appearance. He hardly even allows himself to feel emotions, believing they will make him weak. Being a brother-in-law to Geese Howard, as well as a crime boss, might have something to do with it.

Kain first appeared as a secret boss in Garou: Mark of the Wolves. In City of the Wolves, his antagonistic role is greatly understated: he seems almost normal. Almost, but not quite.

Kevin is an idealist: a SWAT officer obsessed with upholding justice. This character oozes charisma, but like many City of the Wolves entrants who debuted in Garou, he’s struggling with a dark past. Throughout the events of City of the Wolves, Kevin is looking for his best friend’s killer.

Another interesting tidbit, English voice actor Jonah Scott said that he was a big fan of Garou on the Dreamcast as a child and used Kevin as his main. It’s nice to see things come full circle.

Jonah Scott was quite lucky to be cast in the role; Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is the first SNK game in 14 years to have an English voiceover.

Kim Dong Hwan is a taekwondo enthusiast: precocious and charming, he gets into trouble because of how often he skips out on his training. His motivation in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is more easygoing than the other characters - he just wants to refine his martial arts.

Kim is relatively young and is considered a prodigy of his fighting style. He often taunts his opponents, hoping his style will grate on them enough to prompt a response.

Mai Shiranui is the most recognizable character in Fatal Fury’s roster after Terry Bogard: she’s madecameos in other fighting games, and is a core part of SNK’s branding. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves downplays her role, but it couldn’t exclude her entirely, not with how beloved the character is.

A modern-day ninja upholding her family’s values, Mai Shiranui has nursed a crush on Andy for over three decades now. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves hints quite strongly about this fact.
