There are quite a few castles, palaces, and fortresses scattered across the world ofAssassin’s Creed Shadows, and they all range in difficulty. While several of these areas canbe especially difficult, that’s not the case with Nijo Palace. Comparatively, this place is pretty easy to deal with.

This is for quite a few different reasons: it’s easy to enter, there aren’t too many samurai to deal with, and it’s much easier totraverse stealthilythan other locations. It also contains one of the best armor pieces in the game, making it a very good place to head for as soon as you’re at a high enough level.

How To Find And Enter Nijo Palace

Nijo Palace is located in Kyoto, an extremely large city in the Yamashiro region. It’s relatively close to theeast fork of the river, andslightly north of Honnoji Temple.

Most of the exteriorof the palace isclimbable with a grappling hook; the few exceptions are areas where the water meets the wall and the largest exterior structure, which has the viewpoint on the top. Otherwise, you can use your grappling hook to climb up wherever you’d like.

We would recommend, however, entering the castle on the north side. Both samurai will be on that side, meaning you’ll have fewer enemies to sneak by to get to them.

There is alsoscaffolding on the west side of the structurein a small indent. You canswim up to the scaffolding and climb up thereif you’d prefer.

Where To Find The Samurai In Nijo Palace

Nijo Palaceonly has two samurai, and they’re both relatively close to each other, making this one of the quickest to clear in the game.

First Samurai

Both samurai are on the north side, but this one is moreto the northwest. A small section of the castle iswalled off on every side, with barred doors leading in and out. The samurai is there, withmultiple guards scattered around with him.

There’s an explosive in this area, allowing you to kill at least one guard and deal considerable damage to the samurai in the process.

This samurai does havean ability thatallows him to summon reinforcements; if you end up in a fight with him, stagger him when he begins activating this ability to prevent him from using it.

One of the reinforcements that this samurai summons is going to have a firearm. If they happen to appear, it’s usually best to take care of them as quickly as possible because they can cause serious problems while you’re fighting the samurai.

Second Samurai

The second samurai ison the northeast side, patrolling that corner. There are two guards nearby, one in the corner with the small room and one that patrols back and forth near the pond. There are a lot of bushes nearby, making thisan easy area to stick with stealth.

If you do end up in a fight with this samurai, you’ll have to deal with theirpoison damage. They can also dodge backward and toss daggers, making them capable of dealing damage in scenarios you might not expect.

Legendary Chest And Loot Locations

The legendary chest sits atthe top ofthe tallest structure, which, in this case, ison the southwest corner. There’s atrap door at the topof that building, which leads into the room with the legendary chest.

This legendary chest contains one of the best armor pieces in the game, usable with Yasuke: the Protector’s Armor. This allows Yasuke to counter the usually dangerous red attacks, meaning there are far fewer situations in which Yasuke needs to dodge.

Kura Key

This same room alsocontains the Kura Key, which you’re going to need for the room at the bottom of this building. This key is found right next to the chest.

Smuggler Resources

Thebottom of this buildingcontains aguarded room with a locked door. This room isguarded by two enemies, and the room itself is pretty small.

It can be difficult to deal with both enemies there, and we’d recommend assassinating at least one of them to make the situation easier or moving the fight outside.

Inside that room are resources that you can assign a scout to, as well as some resources that you can pick up yourself.

Kano Painting

Lastly, there’s a Kano Painting in Nijo Palace, as well. This painting is in a different location from most of the rest of the important loot, this time on thenorth side, closer to the samurai. The buildingclosest to the interior wall on the northeast sidecontains the Kano painting, and it’s not too difficult to sneak in there undetected.

There is going to be one person inside the building, so be sure to either assassinate them or stay out of sight, lest they run to the guards and get you in a fight inside a crowded building.
