Demon Slayeris a thing of beauty, and it won’t be a stretch to say that Haruo Sotozaki has done justice to the thoughts of the legendary manga artist Koyoharu Gotouge by turning his brainchild into somethingthat is widely loved for his stunning animations, characters, and brilliantly choreographed fight sequences. Especially the battles, which are more than just fighting, as they seem like art because of the presence of different breathing styles.

These sword-fighting styles, also known as Breathing styles, allow the demon hunters to one-up their strength and speed while keeping their precision on point. All these styles originate from nature’s most abundant elements, making them fun to watch on-screen. Among these breathing styles, wind breathing mimics the movements of the wind.

Origins Of Wind Breathing

Wind Breathing is one of the five breathing stylesthat can be traced backdirectly to Sun Breathing, the strongest breathing style ever, created by Yoriichi Tsugikuni himself. In the lore,it is revealed that many students of Yoriichi attempted to learn Sun Breathingbut could not master it because they were not as powerful as Yoriichi. However, they came up withtheir own styles, one of which was wind breathing used by the hashira, Sanemi Shinazugawa.

This also happened when one of the disciples ofYoriichi tried to learn the sun breathing style, but when he struggled with it, it gave birth to analternative personalized technique known to us as wind breathing. Inspired by the nature of the element wind, this breathing style is afierce and aggressive combat techniquethat perfectly depictsthe turbulent nature of the wind, which can sometimes become a storm.

Who Was The Creator Of Wind Breathing?

The identity of the creator of Wind Breathinghas always been a mystery. Not even the creators ever revealed it, keeping it hidden from history. The only thing known about it is that it wasborn through the efforts of one of Yoriichi’s studentsafter he failed to learn sun breathingdespite making their utmost efforts.

Recognizing that he lacked the natural abilities needed to master sun breathing,Yoriichi himself taught him a techniqueinspired by the wind tomake his disciple a stronger part of the Demon Slayer Corps. Slowly learning this technique, this disciple made such good use of it thathe went on to create a total of nine forms of wind breathing.
