Animeis full of tropes and character types. While not every anime is the same, you will often be able to spot recurring tropes present in several shows. One character archetype that appears frequently involves a range of ‘dere’ types. This is a prefix that often goes at the end of a personality type, such as ‘yandere’.

Want to know which dere you resonate the most with based on your Zodiac sign? Here, you’re able to learn just that! In this list, we’ll take a look at all 12 Zodiac signs, along with their respective dere type. Additionally, we’ll cover a few example characters for each one.

This list is just for fun! Some of the dere types have a negative connotation, but this isn’t to say that your Zodiac sign is ‘bad’.

Himedere/Oujidere

Himedere and Oujidere are the same thing, with the first referring to females and the second referring to males. Characters with this dere type have prince or princess-like qualities and often have the air of royalty, even if they aren’t royal.

The Aries zodiac type isn’t quite royal, but they definitely like to lead and take charge, which is similar to characters such as Takami Suoh from Ouran High School Host Club, who leads pretty much everything that the club does.

Kamidere

Those with a Kamidere personality have a bit of a god complex (kami is the Japanese word for god). Rather thanacting first out of love or passionfor someone else, these characters think of themselves as, well… god.

This relates to the stubbornness of the Taurus Zodiac sign. Kamidere characters are stubborn in their superiority, making them a good equivalent for the Zodiac sign.

Tsundere

Tunsdere is one of the most recognizable dere types, appearing in tons of different manga and anime. Those with this trait are cold and generally uninterested at first, but have another side to them once they come out of their shell. Taiga Aisaka from Toradora! is an absolutely iconic Tsundere, serving as a perfect example of this dere type.

Geminis are often described as ‘two-faced’ due to having two personalities. This isn’t necessarily bad though, as Geminis can adapt to a situation well. This split makes them a perfect comparison for the Tsundere type though.

Nemuidere

In Japanese, ‘nemui’ means sleepy, so Nemuidere characters are bound to be sleeping. These characters don’t mean to doze off, but they just can’t help it. These characters aren’t as common as Tsundere, but they are definitely iconic.

The Cancer Zodiac sign isruled by the Moon, which is quite unique among the signs. This provides our first connection to the Nemuidere type, but Cancers are also warm, caring, and protective, much like a cozy little nap.

Deredere

No, this wasn’t a typo. There is actually a character type called Deredere, which refers to characters that are happy and energetic most of the time. Rather than having another layer underneath the surface, these characters are usually pure, loving, and unafraid to hide away their personality.

This pairs perfectly with the Leo Zodiac, as some traits for this sign include confidence, loyalty, charisma, and honesty. Leos are most likely to showcase Deredere traits in a natural way.

Kiredere

Kiredere isn’t as common as some of the others on our list, but it’s still present in a few different anime. Those of this dere type want to express their emotions but can’t do so in a loving way. Instead, it comes out more in a ‘tough love’ type of way.

Virgos exhibit some of the same traits; this sign is known for its perfectionist nature and focus, but at times, it can seem like criticism or tough love. The emotions are still there, but they are just hidden away a little.

Hajidere

Can’t stop blushing whenever you speak to that special someone? You may be a Hajidere. This is a simple dere type; these characters can’t help but blush and get embarrassed when near a love interest.

Libras are known for being charming and heartfelt, which may even present itself in a Hajidere way. Overall, Libras are one of the most compassionate signs out there, making them a perfect fit for the Hajidere type.

Dandere

Dandere is similar to Tsundere, but rather than starting off indifferent (or borderline mean), they start off as quiet/shy and at times, emotionless. This lack of emotion isn’t quite ‘mean’, it’s just extreme shyness.

Bakadere

If spent any amount of time in the online anime community, then you probably know what this dere type means. In Japanese, ‘baka’ means fool, so Bakadere characters are a bit foolish in a heartfelt way.

The Sagittarius sign is known for optimism and curiosity, as well as being funny. This pairs well with the laughable/loveable Bakadere type. Rather than having a cold or shy side, you have a jovial and humorous side!

We couldn’t not include Yandere on our list. Alongside Tsundere, this is one of the most infamous dere types. Rather than being standoffish or shy, Yandere characters are pretty much obsessed with their love interest. The absolute perfect example isYuno Gasai from Future Diary; she’d literally kill for Yuki.

Capricorns don’t want all to kill, but they do have a great sense of discipline that leads them to be quite ambitious. The ambition isn’t always to become obsessed with a love interest, but the similarities are there.
