Summary

Vi and Jinx were added toFortnitemore than three years ago alongside the release ofArcaneseason one. The skins left the Item Shop shortly after that and haven’t been seen since. There was a hope they might be back following the success of the show’s second, and final, season, but those hopes now appear to have been dashed.

Four months on fromRiot committing to doing all it can to figure something out with Epic Games, theLeague of Legendsstudio’s co-founder has returned with an update, and it’s bad news. “We’ve had a lot of conversations with Epic about what might be possible… but we haven’t been able to find the right fit to bring the Arcane skins back and it unfortunately won’t be happening in the foreseeable future,“Marc Merrillrevealed on Twitter.

“We really appreciate how much you all care and how much effort you’ve put into advocating for their return. If anything changes in the future, we’ll let you know.” Merrill didn’t explain why exactly there can’t be, and possibly never will be, another Fortnite x Arcane collab in the future. However, they did note that “Fortnite has evolved a ton with new experiences and collabs” since the Jinx and Vi skins were last available via its Item Shop in 2022.

Vi And Jinx Aren’t Coming Back To Fortnite

Not A Very Long Time, Maybe Ever

This saga began at the end of 2024 when Riot claimed it was on them that Vi and Jinx’s Fortnite skins hadn’t been available to buy in the game for over 1,000 days. Arcane fans likely thought they’d be back to coincide with season two, or at the very least more characters from the League of Legends anime spinoff would get their own skins.

The response to the reveal that Riot was to blame prompted its bosses to get in touch with Epic to try and make something happen. Four months later, the result is that it’s not possible, and it’s not entirely clear why. The door isn’t closed for good, but for now, Vi and Jinx’s skins will remain some of the rarest in the game. If you’ve been playing long enough that you have them, you’re able to flaunt them knowing you’ll be getting under the skin of Arcane fans who can’t have them.

If the Vi and Jinx skins had been tied to a battle pass, then their potentially eternal absence would make more sense. Older skins that were previously only available via an old battle pass, like the original Lara Croft skins, can’t really be brought back as charging for them might annoy those who worked to unlock them. Epic has confirmed battle pass items from chapter five, season four onwards might be added to the item shop, but the Arcane skins were battle pass rewards before that cutoff.
