Summary
If you’reone of the over 2,000,000 peoplejumping intoAssassin’s Creed Shadows, you will immediately realize that there are several difficulty options available. On the “Combat” side, you’re able to choose from Story, Forgiving, Normal and Expert, while on the “Stealth” side, Forgiving, Normal and Expert are made available.
There’s even an additional"Canon Mode" option that takes the difficulty of making choices out of your hands, instead presenting playerswith a “definitive” narrative to experience.

That said, it seems like what’s been made available to players is still not enough. So much so thatUbisoftis currently looking into ways to make the game harder. Yes, harder.
What Does A Hard Assassin’s Creed Even Look Like?
As first shared by GamesRadar, creative director Jonathon Dumont said that his team is “always listening and monitoring what players are doing” when it comes to the latest entry in the long-running franchise.
Specifically, Dumont noted that the team is “actively looking at” potentially increasing the game’s difficulty beyond the options that already exist. That would require “making even a tougher setting for difficulty for some of our players,” according to Dumont.

What that looks like remains to be seen, but Dumont did have one question for the larger Assassin’s Creed fan base:
“How challenging do you want it?”

He did close by saying, “But we’re looking at these things and monitoring what people say about the game.”
Right now, the “Expert” difficulty presents a wider range of views for enemy NPCs, making stealth even harder for Naoe. It also makes enemies stronger and more deadly against Yasuke, requiring players to hone their skills in combat rather than mash buttons. How Ubisoft iterates on that to make things even more difficult will be truly fascinating.
