Summary
A dataminer has seemingly found evidence that the long-rumoured multiplayer mode forAssassin’s Creed Shadowsis indeed real and currently being worked on.
As anyone who has spent time making their way through Feudal Japan is no doubt aware of,Assassin’s Creed Shadows is an absolutely massive game. It’s not quite as big as Odyssey and Valhalla, but it’s still humongous and has plenty for Naoe and Yasuke to do. That’s just the base version of the game,as we know that even more content is on the way in the future.

Although Ubisoft has alreadyconfirmed the first expansion for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Claws of Awaji, is being worked onand should release soon with plenty more content, insiders and leakers have also suggested that something even bigger is on the way.I am, of course, talking about the rumoured multiplayer mode, which just got some evidence that makes it seem inevitable.
Looks Like Assassin’s Creed Shadows' Rumoured Multiplayer Mode Is Real
We Might Even Find Out More Later Today
As reported by Insider Gaming,Twitter user and dataminer Sliderv2 recently shared some interesting findingsfrom the files of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. According to their digging, the Boostrap files within the game make reference to a few developer test maps that are related to multiplayer and PvP modes.
While sharing their findings,Sliderv2 included a few images that show files including “RED_PVP_Maps” and “RED_PVP_Gym"as well as one that says “TST_Multiplayer”. This gives some pretty solid evidence that the rumours and reports were true, with Ubisoft actively working on multiplayer modes for Shadows.

The mention of “RED” in the game’s files seem to be related to Assassin’s Creed Shadows early codename, which was Assassin’s Creed Red. This could suggest the modes have been being worked on for a while.
Interestingly, this supports claims that Insider Gaming has previously made,as they shared last October that a co-op mode codenamed “League” was in the works. It didn’t have a release date at the time due to the game’s delay, but it could be coming sooner rather than later if it’s now being spotted in the game’s files.

We probably won’t have to wait too much longer to find out, either, as Ubisoft recently announced that it’d besharing post-launch plans for Assassin’s Creed Shadows today. That might include a formal announcement that a co-op mode is currently being worked on, although that’s just a guess for now.
