Summary

Ubisoft just confirmed its roadmap forAssassin’s Creed Shadows’first year, and there’s a lot to dig into.

One of the major highlights is the parkour update, which is due next month, followed by a new ally in June and the hotly-requested New Game Plus mode some time later this year. However, we have a “story drop” to look forward to first.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Year 1 post-launch roadmap.

Early May

In early May, you can get stuck into a new free quest called “The Works of Luis Frois” (the Portuguese missionary we saw in Yasuke’s intro). This will launch alongside a codex update and some quality-of-life improvements, though Ubisoft didn’t go into any further detail on what these will entail.

Late May

Shortly after, Shadows will host its “first special collaboration”, though details are likewise scarce. It’s worth noting that previous games, likeOrigins, had crossovers with other IPs likeFinal Fantasy, so it’s hard to predict what might be on the table here.Bayek riding a Chocobo probably wasn’t on anyone’s bingo card.

Ubisoft also revealed that we can expect a “photo mode update”.

In late May, the parkour update will also launch, implementing “height-gaining back ejects”, “height-gaining side ejects”, and a “new vertical ledge jump”, rounding out next month ahead of the second story drop.

June

In the following month, Ubisoft will release another free quest, as well as a new ally for the League. Andfollowing on from community feedback, new difficulty options will be added to the game, alongside gameplay immersion options, a new open world alarm system, and a setting to toggle headgear in cutscenes.

2025

Finally, we have the undated “additional free content to come”, including the New Game Plus mode, more story drops and collaborations, codex updates, additional Animus content, and the paid Claws of Awaji Expansion.

Ubisoft also noted that it plans to release updates based on community feedback, so perhaps we’ll see some of the morepopular ideasimplemented, like being able to toggle the special kill effects, fast travel and change characters in cleared enemy encampments, and tap R3 for Eagle Vision.
