Summary

Not many games have had the honor of being officially bundled with thePS5, but if there were any that should be, it’sAstro Bot. Six months on from the 2024’s Game of the Year’s release,PlayStationhas revealed its newest mascot will be the star of his very own PS5 bundle when it gets a worldwide release next week.

The reveal of an Astro Bot PS5 bundle has been expected for a while.Reliable PlayStation leaker dealabs revealed the plans last monthwith some expecting the bundle to be shown off during February’s State of Play. Neither it northe news about a whole new batch of speedrun levels, which began dropping the next day, made the SoP cut. Still haven’t been able to figure out the logic behind that one.

The reveal of the PS5 bundle was saved far longer, and we now know when exactly it will be available.PlayStation shared in a tweeton Monday morning that its Astro Bot bundle will be available at “select retailers” globally starting next week. However, if you’re okay with buying the bundle through PlayStation Direct, it looks like you’ll be able to get your hands on it sooner.

That Might Be Cheaper Than Buying The Console Separately

The listing for the bundle is already live on the PlayStation website, but don’t all go rushing there at once - you’re able to’t buy it yet. Where you’d normally find the “add to cart” button, there’s a “coming soon” message. However, the listing does confirm that the bundle will beavailable to buy from May 17, 2025,so this Thursday.

PlayStation 5 Console - ASTRO BOT Bundle

PlayStation has bundled its slim PS5 models with Astro Bot. The bundles come with either a standard or digital edition of the slim PS5, a copy of Astro Bot, and a standard DualSense controller.

Unfortunately, the bundle includes a regular DualSense controller, not the limited edition Astro Bot one.

It also confirms how much the console is going to cost -$449.99 for the regular slim version of the PS5, and $399.99 for the digital bundle. What’s particularly interesting about these prices is, as they stand, they’re cheaper than buying the consoles by themselves. A regular slim PS5is currently $499.99through PlayStation Direct, whilea digital edition costs $449.99.

If the bundles remain at that price when they go live later this week, it will further prove that PlayStation is eager to make Astro Bot as big a deal as possible. All we know about its numbers at this stage are that it has sold 1.5 million copies. Not only was it not clear whether PlayStation was happy about that figure or not, but it’s also a very outdated number. It was revealed in November, so we’ve had the holidays andAstro’s GOTY winto bump its sale since then. Hopefully its bundles will boost them even more.
