Summary
There’sno shortage of badass charactersinBaldur’s Gate 3. A demon girl with a machine for a heart, a goth cleric, a squid guy who becomes the ruler of the city’s underworld, and even the literal personification of murder; there’s plenty of them in the game. However, we can all agree there’s no one more heavy metal than Dame Aylin.
The Aasimar spent eons trapped in the depths of a Sharran temple, where she built up her fury, ready to unleash at her captors when the chance comes. Even in design, her tall stature, angelic wings, and cracked white skin made her one of the most intimidating characters in the game. However, it seems Larian originally planned to make her look more badass.

Aylin’s Original Concept Was Even More Metal
As spotted by oneRedditor, the original concept art for Aylin looks even more hardcore than in the game. The design is overall much darker, making her look like aFromSoftwareboss. The last image of her in captivity looks especially hardcore, prompting one comment to say it “needs to find its way onto the cover of the greatest metal album ever.”
“Great idea,” agreed another. “I wanna write a Dame Aylin metal song now using this image and the lore written below.” As for why the devs eventually changed it, it’s probably because of what I said earlier – this design makes her look evil. The current design, while still intimidating, doesn’t look like it belongs to a bad guy.
Other comments pointed out that the difference from the final product was due to practicality. “I’m guessing they went with the simpler design because it was easier to pull off. This concept art would have taken more effort to make work and there are only so many hours in the day. What they went with is still great and the cut scene where she gets her armor and wings back is pretty badass.”
Whatever the case is, there’s no denying that there’s a vast difference between the concept art and what we got in the game. While it’s understandable why that is the case, this version of Aylin looks like she could have defeated the Netherbrain by herself.
