Summary

Patch 8 of Baldur’s Gate 3 is finally out, officially ending all the content that will be coming to the game. Of course,Larianwill still be making minor updates and fixes, but this will be the last big update that the game will receive. A lot of things have come with this update, including cross-play, photo mode, and12 new subclasses.

While those are the main new features of the update, there are tons of quality-of-life changes as well. For instance, have you ever passed a perception check in the game but had no clue what you perceived? This has resulted in a lot of us missing secrets or items that are useful to the plot. Patch 8 makes sure you no longer have to frantically search for the blue marker before it disappears.

Perception Checks Are Easier In Baldur’s Gate 3 Thanks To Patch 8

According to theBaldur’s Gate 3patch 8notes, “When you succeed a Perception check, the spotted item will now ping on the minimap and be listed in the combat log.” This means you’ll no longer have to scour the map for what you’ve found. If you miss the blue marker, the item will also pop up on the mini map as well as your combat log.

This should make it easy for you to see traps, secrets, and any other neat items that you need a perception check to spot. A lot of players would have complained about seeing the perception roll and sound, but not spotting the actual item. This addition will ensure that you don’t miss anything.

“I love this. There is a perception check as you enter the Flophouse in Rivington that I always pass but have no idea what it is,” said one comment on the Baldur’s gate 3 subreddit. “I’ve lost count of the number of times a character succeeded in a perception check, but I failed,” joked another.

Now, thanks to patch 8, both you and your character will be able to pass the perception check.
