Summary

The sheer amount of content and secrets inBaldur’s Gate 3are enough to fill a Bag of Holding. Even after two years, players are still findinginstancesandlines of dialoguethat have never been seen before. While new lines of dialogue is one thing, it seems someone has discovered an entirely new NPC in Baldur’s Gate 3.

You may have heard of Harvard Willoughby, the comedian in the Elfsong Tavern. However, it’s unlikely that you’ve heard of Harvard Willoughby, the pet sheep that can cast spells. You read that correctly. There is a hidden pet that you can unlock in the game by performing a few tasks. And, it can cast spells.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Has A Secret Magic Pet Sheep

The steps to unlock this sheep are quite random; there’s no way you’d have figured it out by yourself. However, for some reason, the developers at Larian decided to include this sheep in the game, and give players access to it if you perform a particular set of steps. Harvard the sheep can cast Call Lightning, Entangle, Thorn Whip, Unarmed Strike and Wall of Thorns.

The only reason we know about this sheep is because a dataminer calledSlimXfigured it out around a month or two ago. While datamining uncovered a lot of characters hidden in inaccessible parts of the map, like Shar, Vlaakith and Mystra, that is pretty normal in most games. However, Harvard can be unlocked and used by players.

According to theBaldur’s Gate 3 Wiki, you’ll have to meet the following criteria:

Once these criteria are met, a mysterious egg will appear in camp, which, upon being interacted with, will cause Harvard to fall from the sky. He can then be used as a regular summon, like Scratch.

Baldur’s Gate 3fans on Reddit are in sheer disbelief. One comment said, “when I first found out about it, I thought it was an April Fools prank that I didn’t see before. Now I’m wondering what else is yet to be discovered.”

It’s unclear how exactly the devs expected players to figure this out. Perhaps they knew that dataminers would eventually take this game apart, and included this little secret as a surprise. Either way, Scratch and the Owlbear are no longer my favourite BG3 pets.
