Summary

While we may not knowwhat happens to our beloved companions far into the future,Baldur’s Gate 3does a great job of giving us a bit of closure via the epilogue scene. The scene is set six months after the final battle; Withers sets up a nice dinner party for you, your companions, and a few others. There are also tons of letters from people you’ve helped over the course of your adventure.

This is a nice little way to see how everyone is doing and what they’re up to now. While Karlach is still in the midst of her fight to fix her heart and Lae’zel is still at war with Vlaakith, mostly everyone is at peace. However, if you decide to disrupt that peace by attacking someone, it seems Withers has a punishment in store for you.

Do Not Mess With Withers' Dinner Party

A Redditor namedCostatidecided to put this to the test and found out that you do not mess with a god. In case you didn’t know, Withers is actually Jergal, the god of death before The Dead Three. So, he’s pretty powerful, and not to be trifled with. Also, the bard he hired for the dinner party is actually Milil, the god of music.

Upon messing with the bard, seemingly ignorant to their true nature, they were spammed with Vicious Mockery. However, their true punishment came when they spoke with Withers after that. “He says you ruined his party and cast a portal that goes god knows where and puts you through it. I’m pretty sure he might have killed me. It’s not confirmed but I think so.” The credits proceed to roll after that.

While the player didn’t know who they were messing with, the comments provided them with context about Withers and the bard’s true identity. “You attacked a god. And then you talked to a ticked off second god. What did you expect?” Another noted, “Just be warned Withers takes the good vibes very seriously.”

Attacking Withers does the same thing, warned another player – “He expresses his most sincere disappointment and banishes the offender to the fugue plane.”

Moral of the story: Even if you saved the world from an evil floating brain, you cannot mess with a literal god at their dinner party.
