Summary
Barbiehas been around since the 1950s, and Ken joined her in 1961, so naturally, both have thousands of doll designs between them. None of them will be quite like the one you’ll be able to buy next week, though, as Mattel has announced LeBron James - yes, that LeBron James - is getting his own Signature Barbie doll.
Okay, the newly revealed LeBron doll isn’t technically a Barbie. It is a part of the Barbie Signature collection, however, which focuses on more unique, usually more expensive dolls. The LeBron doll isn’t even technically a Ken. A more accurate description of where exactly the LeBron doll falls on the Barbie-Ken spectrum is “Kenbassador”, a word that has been coined specifically for this reveal, but will seemingly be used again in the future.

The LeBron doll is described as the first in the Barbie Signature’s Kenbassador line. It’s a result of a collaboration between Mattel and the LeBron James Family Foundation, an organization LeBron founded that helps struggling families in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. Barbie will be donating to the foundation as a part of the team-up with the iconic basketball player.

Say Hello To Your First Kenbassador
LeBron has worked closely with Barbie’s designers to nail down the likeness of his Kenbassador doll. Not only is it, of course, key that the doll look like LeBron in terms of its facial features, but its outfit also needs to represent the LA Lakers star. The doll’s jacket is covered in patches that represent important areas of LeBron’s life - a 23 to represent his jersey number, a patch for Ohio, and a third sporting the name of his foundation.
The doll is also sporting Nike Terminator High sneakers, a pair of Beats headphones, and even a fanny pack. It’s also an inch taller than a standard Ken doll. At six foot nine, that’s probably being kind to Ken. If you want to grab a LeBron Kenbassador doll, you will be able to do so from the link in the box below at Mattel Creations starting from 12:01 am EST on Monday, July 09, 2025.
Barbie Signature LeBron James Kenbassadors Doll
LeBron James has been transformed into a doll by Mattel and added to its Barbie Signature collection. The first in a new line of Kenbassadors, the doll has been created in collaboration with the LeBron James Family Foundation and comes equipped with a fanny pack, Beats headphones, and more things to tie LeBron’s signature look together in doll form.
There are a couple of caveats, though. First of all, unless you’re acclimatised to the Signature Barbie scene, this doll is probably going to cost more than you’re used to paying for Barbie and Ken dolls. LeBron’s Kenbassador doll will cost $75 due to its rarity and collectible nature. It will also be limited to 5,000 units, meaning even at that lofty price point, it will likely sell out pretty quickly.
