The Slormanceris an ARPG with progression systems built on progression systems, taking the grindy nature of the genre to the next level. There are so many different ways to build each class that even just playing one can keep you busy for hundreds of hours.

If all this build complexity sounds overwhelming at first, don’t worry. The game does a good job of slowly introducing systems as you play through the story, which acts almost like a tutorial for the real meat of the game, the endgame grind. If you still need a few pointers for the first few hours of the game, you’ve come to the right place.

Choosing between the Slormancer’s three classes.

Try Out Each Class

There are three different classes in The Slormancer: the Mighty Knight, Mischievous Mage, and Fierce Huntress. Each class also hasthree different Specialization optionsthat provide different playstyles to work with. Luckily, shortly after the start of the game, you canunlock the other two classes on the same save fileby completing their mission in The Graveyard.

This means you canswap between each class in townandtest out their playstyles as much as you want, all while contributing Goldus and items to your overall save file. We recommend getting each class to level 10 and playing around with each of their Specializations before you settle on one to continue with.

Unlocked villagers are available to all characters on the same save file, so you don’t need to repeat the campaign to take advantage of their services.

Unlock And Test New Slorm Reapers

Slorm Reapers are the weapons you acquire for your class, and each one provides a unique effect that can be built around. With120 Slorm Reapers for each class, there are tons of different builds you’re able to think up just by reading the weapon’s description.

Unlocking Slorm Reapers, on the other hand, is a bit more difficult. These mostly drop bycompleting Breaches found in campaign maps or in Expeditions, so grinding these is a good way to get more. However, the Slorm Reaper you find is random, so you may need a bit of luck to get one that fits the playstyle you’ve chosen. This is why experimenting with any new Slorm Reaper you get is so essential, though.

Additionally, some Slorm Reapers can evenevolve into a new one with enhanced effects. If a Slorm Reaper can evolve, there will be agrey line connecting it to the next onein the chainin the Weapon-O-Dex. Slorm Reapers evolve after hitting their max level, but you won’t know an evolution-capable Slorm Reaper’s max level until you reach it, so keep grinding!

Level Up Through Expeditions

Not only are Expeditions great for finding new Slorm Reapers, but they’re also one of thebest sources of Goldus, Slorm, and EXP, especially early on. If a story mission is ever too hard, spend some time in an Expedition to power up your character.

Every Breach you close in an Expedition grants abonus of Goldus and Slormonce you’ve leave, but you’lllose this bonus if you die, so don’t get cocky. If things start to get challenging, consider leaving the Expedition to secure your bonuses.

You’ll unlock new types of Expeditions as you progress through the campaign, as well as more Wrath Difficulties for Expeditions. Theseincrease the strength of enemies, but also thequality of your rewards, so take on the extra challenge if you’re able.

Don’t Be Afraid To Experiment

Experimentation is the name of the game in The Slormancer. With so many Slorm Reapers, Skills, Attribute Points, Ancestral Legacy nodes, gear, and more to play around with, don’t just settle for one build.

Respeccing is also free and easy in The Slormancer, so there’s almost no reason not to try to build around a new Skill, Legendary item, or Slorm Reaper when you get it.

Any Slorm you invest in your skills can easily be pulled out by using thered downarrow, or you can respec all of your invested Slorm by talking toOrmosto the right of the Expedition board in town.

There are dozens of different effects, buffs, triggers, skills, and other important words to keep track of in The Slormancer. Luckily, hovering almost anything with an important wordwill display that word’s tooltip, giving you quick access to the information you need to know.

Crafting stats onto an epic-quality item in The Slormancer.

Make use of this feature as you fine-tune your build to see how certain effects function. Additionally, make use of thesearch feature, especially when browsing through skills, to see other places an effect shows up. For example, if you’re building around Ravenous Daggers, searching this phrase will highlight every skill and skill tree node that mentions it.

The in-game Codex, accessible from the main menu, is also a great way to learn about different systems, so be sure to take advantage of it if you’re lost!

Make Use Of Crafting

After you unlock the Blacksmith from clearing a Breach inThe Guard Roomin thePrison, you will be able to use Crafting toreforge your items. Crafting is an incredible system that essentially allows you tofine-tune any item of your choosing, selecting which stats to reroll, which to add, and so on.

Crafting lets youmake the perfect piece of gear with the exact stats you wanton it, as long as you have the necessarySlormeline.

Legendaries are another important part of your build, but at first, they can seem underwhelming due to their limited number of stats. However, at the Blacksmith, you canadd stats to a Legendary item, bringing it on par with the rest of your equipment. You can also use crafting toadd a random Legendary effect to any piece of gear.

Crafting uses asoft-pity elimination systemwhere each roll iscrossed out from a list of possible outcomes. Each subsequent rollwon’t repeat from this list until you’ve gone through them all, meaning you’reguaranteed to eventually get the exact stat on any slot of any piece of gear.

Set Up A Loot Filter

As you progress further through the game, you’ll soon find yourself flooded with items, especially Normal (grey) and Magic (green) quality items that aren’t relevant any longer. Luckily, once you’ve unlocked the Blacksmith, you’re able to set up a loot filter tocompletely hide these items from appearing.

You canchange your loot filter from anywhereonce you have the feature unlocked, not just at the Blacksmith’s shop.

Not only does this reduce clutter on your screen, but hidden items can also be set to beautomatically converted into either Fragments or Golduswhen they would have dropped, at75 percent of their standard value. Since you’re probably skipping over these items anyway, this lets you build up a bit of extra currency just by having certain items drop.

However, if you want to make the most use out of the crafting system, it’s a good idea to not hide some items entirely. Due to the rarity ofPure Stats, you may want toenable items that drop with Pure Statsthrough the item filter, letting you craft them into higher rarities later.
