Summary
DigimonAdventure 02 is the sequel to the original series where seven kids are transported from their summer camp to the Digital World. Taking place a few years after these events, it reintroduces viewers to TK and Kari while adding three new DigiDestined to the mix who go on their own adventure to stop the rising Digimon Emperor.
As the series progresses, villains redeem themselves, new foes rise, and DigiDestined start popping up all over the world. Some even go through their own stories, so tragic, they get an entire movie to flesh out that backstory. So who are the best DigiDestined in Digimon Adventure 02?

8The World Tour Crew
Too Many DigiDestined, Very Little Impact
The World Tour arc throws different characters from the first and second seasons together. The main premise is that they need to travel the world and meet other DigiDestined. This includes America, Russia, Paris and many more. This earned them at least an honorable mention despite being easily clumpable.
These DigiDestined never really get enough screen time to become actual characters. At times, they even feel like OCs in a weird spinoff. However, it does give fans a chance to see Digimon that don’t feel like heroes, act heroically. These Digidestined even come back at the end of the series to lend a hand against Malomyotismon with their Digivices.

7Kari
One Promising Plotline
Kari often feels like she takes a backseat in Digimon Adventure 02. Luckily, she has her moments here and there. Like TK, she is older this time around, gets an upgrade to her Digivice, and even gets her own DigiEgg for some armor action. She is also one of the veteran DigiDestined in the group that provides some great nostalgia.
One of her more notable adventures takes place when she gets transported to the Dark Ocean. This location is not only mysterious but feeds onher darkest thoughts. Of course, the Dark Ocean plotline is dropped soon after but returns again in future sequels, anime, and films.

6Yolei
A Tech Savvy Girl
Yolei doesn’t always get as many moments to shine as the rest of the crew, but she is still a cool character. She embodies the combined traits of love and serenity and can use both Digieggs to power up her partner, Hawkmon.
Yolei is the most tech-savvy of the group. While the Digiegg of knowledge goes to Cody, she has technical traits that bring her closer to Izzy’s role in the original group. She is even the new president of the computer club in her school. However, unlike Izzy, Yolei can be loud, energetic, and confident, which sets her apart.

5Cody
A Link To The Past
With combined traits of knowledge and reliability, Cody and Armadillomon form a great team. He practices Kendo and is often the more mature member of the team. However, he can be stubborn, especially when dealing with Ken after his return. His arc has him learning to soften up and stop seeing the world as good and evil, but full of complex personalities.
Cody is also in a great position to interact with the villain, Yukio Oikawa, who was his late father’s best friend. This gives him a deeper connection to the man who would infiltrate the Digital World by the end of the series. This also allows him to sympathize with him during his final moments.

4TK
Matt’s Younger Brother Grows Up
TK returns in Digimon Adventure 02. He’s older and wiser than he was in the original Digimon Adventure. After finding out that evil is on the rise in the Digital World once more, he returns to help fend off the Digimon Emperor. This isn’t an easy task as his original Digivice does not work in the proximity of the control spires. Luckily, TK gets an upgrade, as well as a Digi-egg so he can Armor Digivolve Patamon.
Despite aging between seasons, there is also hidden trauma that is still left over from the original adventure. For starters, TK is still beating himself up about letting Angemon die during the battle with Devimon.

3Willis
Digimon’s Darkest Story
Willis is not an official member of the Digimon Adventure 02 crew, but his presence in the movie, ‘Digimon Hurricane Landing!!/Transcendent Evolution!! The Golden Digimentals’ earns him a spot. This is also the third act of the American Digimon Movie that splices three films together.
Willis has a Terriermon as his partner. He even has a classic Digivice. He is pursued by one of his former Digimon, Endigomon, who wants to force him to be a child again. This leads Willis down a depressing rabbit hole where he is forced to confront Endigomon and his corrupted Digivolutions. It’s not a happy ending, but that’s what makes Willis such an interesting character.

2Davis
Goofy But Pure Of Heart
Davis starts off as a wannabe Tai, even sporting his own pair of goggles and trying to be the best soccer player once Tai has moved up to High School. Of course, Davis is his own person and despite sharing some qualities as the former leader of the Digidestined, has plenty of unique traits. Some of these include his stubbornness and ability to open up to others, even enemies.
Davis has great communication skills. In Digimon World Tour, he is able to easily make banter and provide a friendly introduction to the DigiDestined from around the world. While he has a crush on Kari that makes him more hot-headed, he eventually mellows out a bit.
1Ken
If A Pokemon Player Tried Digimon
Digimon and Pokemon have completely different worlds. However, Ken as the Digimon Emperor, often feels like a Pokemon gamer got sucked into the wrong world. This is seen best when Ken is shown to believe the Digital World to be a game. Hence, why he creates control spires to capture, control, and use them to defeat his enemies. When he realizes that Digimon are living things, he renounces his evil ways.
Ken has a hard time coming around after abandoning his Digimon Emperor persona. The loss of his brother caused him to cope in various ways, but he soon comes to terms with everything and even manages to reunite with Wormon.
