Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Timelets you live out a new life in a fantasy world, but you’re not restricted to a single life; you can have them all! Lives are professions, so whether you want to be an Angler, a Paladin, or a Cook, the choice is yours.
With so many Lives on offer, you might be overwhelmed and unsure which one is the best suited to you and your playstyle, so we’ve got a complete breakdown of everything you need to know right here.

What Are Lives?
There are15 Lives in totalin Fantasy Life i, including your base Life of ‘Brand New’. These are broken down intothree categories: Combat, Gathering, and Crafting.
*Both Farmer and Artistmust be unlockedbefore they can be used.

How To Start A New Life
When you want to start a new Life, head to the Guild and choose whichever one you want(provided it is unlocked). You’ll then need tospeak to the Master of that Life and complete a tutorial questthat will teach you the basics of how that Life operates to earn your license and become a Fledgling in that role.
After your first Life, for any subsequent Lives, you’re able to choose to skip the tutorial and immediately become a Fledgling.

Life Challenges And Life Rank
Each Life haschallenges to complete, which you canhand in to the designated Life Master. Completing these challenges willincrease your Life Ranks, which then let you learn better abilities and earn you some new rewards.
How To Switch Between Lives
If you have already earned your license in a particular Life, you caneasily change between Lives in the menu by choosing ‘Lives’and then selecting the Life you want.
Alternatively, or to unlock Lives you have yet to earn a License for, you canspeak to Auntie Anne in the Guild Office in Eternia Village.

You’ll also automatically switch to relevant Lives when interacting with relevant objects. For example, trying to fish will switch you to Angler, while drawing your weapon will switch you to a Combat job.
How To Reset Your Skill Board
Each Life has a Skill Boardwhere you can unlock skills to make your character even stronger in their chosen profession. If you ever want to reset your Skill Board, you canspeak to one of the Lip Flowers found within Guild buildings to reset a Life of your choice for 10,000 Dosh. You’ll get all of your spent points back and be able to reallocate them.
Which Life Should You Start With?
Inevitably, you will juggle many, if not all, Lives available in Fantasy Life i, but the all-important question is which should you start with?
We don’t recommend starting with a Crafting Life as these are more complicated, as they involve getting different resources to craft the items you need, and so are slower to level up. They serve a purpose later, but aren’t the best to start with, in our opinion.

All Lives And What They Do
Here’s a complete breakdown of all the available Lives and what they are able to do.
Combat Lives
You’re going toneed a Combat Life to progress through the main storyline, as there are battles you have to complete for certain objectives. While you could theoretically stick with your Brand New Life as your combatant, all of the other Combat Lives are far more effective, so you need to have at least one other Combat Life available.
You’ll also need Combat Lives to be able to effectively explore areas, especially Ginormosia, which is full of tough enemies.

Brand New
This is the base Life you start with. It uses a stick as a melee weapon andshould be replaced with a better Combat Life as soon as possible.
If you don’t get a license for a Combat job, whenever you draw your weapon to engage in combat, you will automatically switch to Brand New.

Paladin
Paladins use a Sword and Shield and doclose-range melee damagewhile being able toreduce damage from opponentswith their Shield, while later unlocking a counterattack.
Mercenary
Mercenaries use Greatswords todeal a lot of close-range melee damage, but at a slower pacethan some other Combat Lives.
Hunter
Hunters are skilled at using Bows and Arrows to domelee damage from a ranged distance, while also being able toapply status effects and ailments to enemiesby using different arrow types. They can useAoE attacks that rain arrows from above, and can use Hunter Step to dodge attacks.
Magician
Magicians use Staves to domagical damage from a distance, and as they level up, they can alsouse defensive and healing spells.
