All of it twists together to create a unique experience bathed in legends and warfare.
However, before diving in, it’s important to know what you’re getting into. For this reason, we’ve developed a guide will of our best tips and tricks to get you started. Whether it’s what items you should hold onto or how to best gain experience, we’ve got you covered.

Sneak Everywhere, All The Time
From the moment you get started, crouch down and crawl through the prisonon the island. Your sneakskill will increase by passing the Red Priests and any other monstersand prisoners around you. Regardless of your preferred play style, gaining those early experience points is crucialto leveling up and unlocking new skills.
You can always gain additional experience by sneaking up on enemies and attacking them for bonus damage!

To continuously improve this skill, you couldjust stay crouchedthe entire time. However, it’s best reserved foropen areas with enemies nearby or indoor dungeonsand caves. You’ll see just how many times the sneak skill improves, and the detection system may evenalert you to dangers you can’t seeyet.
Pick Every Lock You Find
If you see a lockpick, pick it up. There aredozens of locked chestsall over Avalon, and you can crack them open by picking the lock. Even if the rewards are rather crummy, theexperience gained for opening the secured chestis priceless.
Chests can befound in private quarters, which are a bit harder to get to undetected, or they can bescattered in the wildsoutside city walls. Keep your eyes peeled for thesewooden crates and other types of containersso you cangrab all that sweet loot(and level up while you’re at it).

Carry As Many Ingredients As You Can
Everywhere you go, you’llfind flowers, vegetables, fruits, and other nasty bitslying around that you can use for either cooking or alchemy. Both are skills you can level up, so it’s worthgrabbing everything you canfor the next time you haveaccess to an alchemy station or cooking pot.
If you use Ethereal Cobwebs at your campfire, you may access these options safely from any location outdoors.

Don’t worry about what recipes you have when it comes to cooking. You can alwaysmix up to three random ingredientstogether to see what you get. Who knows? Maybe it won’t just be a bowl of undercooked slop this time.
Sprint And Jump Constantly
You’ll also want tosprint and jumpas much as you may to increase your agility skill. Regardless of your build, this is auseful way to get experience earlyon without having to do too much extra work. When you’re just starting out, you’llhave to walk everywhere anyway.
If you’re overencumbered, you may’t sprint. However, you can still jump!

Those who opt togo in blazing with brandished swordswill likely prefer this over crouching to increase their sneak skill, but it never hurts to get some extra experience.
Use Your Campfire Often
When outdoors, you canplace your campfire almost anywhereat any time, so long as it’s not obstructed. Make use of this torest, eat, level up, and most importantly–talk to King Arthur.
As you explore the world and the vast wonders that fill it,Arthur may have some comments to sharewith you. These could bememories from his past or just general advicefor moving forward. Talking with the Once and Future King will helpassuage your mind when it comes time to make difficult choices, or maybe you’ll just like hearing the sound of his voice in the rain.

Explore Every Inch Of The Map
The map might seem big, but it’s smaller than you’d think. Exploring everything you come across can lead toruins left by the druids, caves full of treasure, or other forgotten secretslost to time.
Don’t forget tocheck the bottom of the blood lakefor a door. Just be prepared to fight when you get in there.

You’ll alsofind side questsand other exciting adventures waiting for you, so it’sworth stopping to smell the rosesonce in a while. You can evenpick them and keep them in your bagfor later use.
Sweep The Asylum Island Before Leaving
The tutorial area isone of the most important places you’ll visitearly on, and there’s much more to it than just following your mysterious friend to the beach. There’splenty of loot to grab, as well astwo mini-bosses to defeatfor additional gear and experience.
Just ensure you’re ready to face them. ‘Tutorial’ doesn’t translate to ‘easy.’

There’s also the matter ofthe plague victimsbeing held within. Leaving them to their own devices will likely result in their slow and painful deaths, which won’t do anyone any good. However, you cansneak up on them and deal the finishing blowfor a small sum of experience.
Pick Up Tools ASAP
Don’t ignore the shovel. Seriously, pick it up when you see it. You canuse the shovel as a weapon, but most importantly, you can use it todig up buried treasure. There arechests hidden all over Avalonjust waiting to be plundered!
There are other tools you can grab too, like awood-cutting axe, a pick, and a fishing rod. These tools will enable you to harvest variousresources that can be used for crafting, so don’t pass up the chance toget them early on at the Asylum Islandwhile you can.

Talk To Everyone You Meet
You never know what might happen.Talking to NPCsis always a good idea, whether they drop bits of lore, offer goods, or provide bits of trainingfor you to increase your skills. However, even someenemies offer you a chance to negotiate, though the chances of success may be slim.
Sometimes, you’ll just have to fight, but it’s worth listening to the monologue first for any extra details.

From the necromancer hiding in a cave to the knights of the round table waiting to be dealt with, there are plenty ofdiverse and lively charactersto converse with. Maybe the next person you meet willhave a legendary questfor you, or maybe they’llgive you a pie recipe.
Become A Bounty Hunter
As soon as you get off the Asylum Island, you canstart taking bountiesfrom the Keepers stronghold. These bounties willgive you large sums of goldwhen you start out, all forkilling bandits and thugsyou likely already found in your travels across Avalon.
Be sure tocollect the Branded Fleshfrom any bandits, as it’s worth its weight in gold–well, about ten pieces, actually.
Keep tabs on your bounties and prizes toestablish a nest eggfor your travels. Someone has to take care of those bandits, and it may as well be you!
