10Pitchfork

The lowest spear in the game is the Pitchfork. The mundane spear variant is a simple melee weapon that must be wielded in two hands, so it isn’t very versatile. While it doesn’t offer any protective bonus or special abilities, it can do some Piercing Damage in a pinch.

Really, this is a last resort weapon that we wouldn’t recommend unless you have no other choice, or if you think it would be funny to take down an enemy with a simple farm tool. However, it’s technically a spear, so it’s worth adding to the list.

Any Act: Randomly found throughout the world as you travel.

9Spear (+1 / +2)

Your base-level spear is a little better than a pitchfork. With a +1 or +2 enchantment, it has just a little extra power behind it. Wielding one of these spears is straightforward, with no additional spells or abilities to complicate matters.

As with any spear, it offers the Rush Attack ability and can knock foes off-balance. The +1 spear may be worth it as it’s found earlier in the game, but the +2 is only found a the end of the game, and by that point, there is no point pursuing it.

How to get this spear:

Act One: Purchase Spear +1 from Merchant Dammon in the Druid Grove.

Act Three: Loot from the Breaker of War in the final battle.

8Jagged Spear

The Jagged Spear is a step up from the Spear +1. While the damage is similar to your base spear, it’s a little different due to the Torturous Edges. Your enemies will be less likely to evade an attack after taking damage from this spear, due to the Disadvantage on Constitution Saving Throws.

The uncommon weapon is located in the Shattered Sanctum during Act One, so you can stab plenty of Goblins with the crooked blade while pursuing Minthara.

Act One: Find it next to Torturer Spike in the Shattered Sanctum, East of the entrance.

7Lightning Jabber

If you’re looking for a spear mid-game, Lightning Jabber is a decent option. This uncommon +1 weapon deals extra Lightning Damage when it is thrown, Shocking the target. If your foe is shocked, they cannot make any Reactions and have Disadvantage on Saving Throws.

This spear gives your party more control over the combat and allows you to more easily take down the Shocked enemy. The spear belongs to theKuo-Toa Chief, so it’s only acquired if you willingly seek out an ambush in Act Two.

Act Two: Loot from the Cursed Kuo-Toa Chief in the ambush in Reithwin Town.

Despite being labelled as a Spear, it is tagged as a Javelin and as such does not work with the Polearm Master Feat.

6The Watcher’s Guide

If you’re worried about missing a hit in combat, equip The Watcher’s Guide. This spear specializes in second chances. Giving the wielder Death’s Promise, it gives you True Strike every time you miss a strike.. True Strike gives you Advantage, so it’s highly likely you’ll get them on your next turn.

to get this spear, you have to fight a pack of enemies and solve a puzzle, but it’s worth it for such a great spear early in the game.

Act One: Loot from a sarcophagus in The Dank Crypt.

5Vision Of The Absolute

With a name like Vision Of The Absolute, you know this spear is going to have an important ability. This spear has the Absolute Night effect, Blinding targets that fail a Dexterity Saving Throw. If the target has multiple sets of eyes, they take extra Piercing Damage on a melee hit.

It’s great for fighting Spiders, Spectators, and other creepy, leering enemies. It’s found in Act One, so you’ll definitely face a few of these before you journey into the Shadowfell.

Act One: Craft from two pieces, one found in the Owlbear Nest and the other West of the Druid Grove by Edwin.

Despite being themed around the Absolute, the spear does not seem to have any interactions with the Brand Of The Absolute.

4Infernal Spear

Despite being called the Infernal Spear, this weapon doesn’t involve fire. The rare +1 weapon deals an extra three Poison Damage, possibly Poisoning the target. This is all on top of the base Piercing Damage, so it can do some serious harm.

It’s one of the best spears in the game, so you do have to wait until Act Three to acquire it. Once you find it in Wyrm’s Rock Fortress, however, you’ll feel its poison power.

Act Three: Loot from Iron Counsel Mian or Nuff in Wyrm’s Rock Fortress.

3Spear Of Night

This spear is wrapped up in Shadowheart’s quest, so it’s only fair she wields this weapon. It’s found in the Gauntlet of Shar, so it’s made for a Dark Justiciar. The +1 spear gives you Shar’s Blessing, meaning the wielder can kill the Nightsong.

Aside from that, it functions as your average spear. If you want to finish the Nightsong quest, however, you must have this weapon in your arsenal.

Act Two: Complete the Gauntlet of Shar and take it from the Silent Library.

2Shar’s Spear Of Evening

Shar’s Spear Of Evening is a legendary +3 weapon. The wielder has Shar’s Blessing and gets Advantage on Saving Throws while Obscured, as well as doing extra damage to Obscured enemies.

You can also cast Shar’s Darkness, Blinding enemies, though you are immune to being Blinded yourself. It’s clear that with this spear, shadows are your friend. This is a heavy advantage in Act Two when wandering through the Shadow Curse.

Act Two: Rewarded to Shadowheart if she kills the Nightsong.

1Selune’s Spear Of Night

Similar to Shar’s Spear of Evening, Selune’s Spear of Night is a direct result of your actions during theNightsong questline. Opposite of the darkness Shar gives, Selune’s weapon focuses on the power of light. It gives you the ability to cast Moonbeam, dealing Radiant Damage to enemies in its path.

You also get the Moonmote cantrip, decreasing enemy movement around you and giving your allies extra Radiant Damage on their hits. If you didn’t already have Darkvision, this spear allows you to see in the dark.

Act Two: Rewarded by Aylin if Shadowheart refuses Shar and spares The Nightsong.
