Super Earth is under attack inHelldivers 2, and it’s up to you and your squad to defeat the Illuminate forces and protect the citizens within the Mega Cities of our homeworld. The invasion is underway, and landfall has been confirmed across Super Earth. It’s only a matter of time before their forces decimate the cities, so all Helldivers are ordered to report and obliterate the squids.
Before going into battle, be warned that there are new enemy ships with laser canons appearing in Mega Cities across Super Earth. Read through our briefing so you can bring these squid ships down in an explosive way.
Where To Find Leviathan Ships
To find these dangerous vessels, look to Super Earth’s Mega Cities. They appearon higher difficulties only, from difficulty seven and up. You’ll know one has appeared when youhear a mechanical screechrip across the war-torn skies.
You may be able to find a stray Leviathan on difficulty six, but it’s incredibly unlikely.
They can be hard to see in tight areas, but they willknock down buildingsin their path. These massive beasts areequipped with powerful laser cannonsthat fire one after the other. Thefirst one or two shots may miss, but you’d better find cover for thethird and fourth shots that won’t.
A Leviathan ship’s lasers willone-shot you and your squad, so bring plenty ofdefensive stratagems that can help reduce the damageor mitigate it all together.
When you see one of these vile Leviathan ships in a Mega City, youneed to bring it down. Otherwise, it will continue to sweep the streets of Super Earth and leave destruction in its wake.
How To Destroy A Leviathan
A Leviathan looks impenetrable, but that’s only from the top side. Underneath, there arethree distinct weak pointsthat can be exploited. However, there’sno way to get up closeto defeat them yet, andstaying far away puts you at riskof being struck.
As a Helldiver, there are two main ways you can destroy Leviathan ships quickly:using your stratagems and bringing anti-tank level weapons.
Use The Recoilless Rifle
Bring the Recoilless Rifle and backpack, as it’s the best andmost effective weaponfor the task. TheQuasar is far too slowto hit the Leviathan ships as they pass by, and the cooldown will get you killed.
Make sure theRecoilless Rifle is fully loaded and readyfor when you find a Leviathan up above. Angle yourself beneath the ship and fire into thethree weak points on the underbelly.
You’ll only needone or two shots to rip open each sectionof the ship, and once each point is destroyed, the Leviathan will plummet to the ground.
Use An Anti-Tank Emplacement
Another way your squad cantake down the Leviathan shipsis to carefullyplace Anti-Tank Emplacements Stratagems. These devices provide powerful, stationary cannons that willfire rapidly into the belly of the beast.
The issue is that the operator is left all but defenseless when the city is overrun with Illuminate forces. Additionally, thecannons can’t always rotate to reachthe weak points on a Leviathan.
If you choose this method, be sure toprovide plenty of support to the operatorso that they can focus on their task. You’ll have torepeatedly fire into the Leviathanto bring it down, but a single Anti-Tank Emplacement has enough ammo to get the job done.
