Summary
With theNintendo Switch 2coming this summer andGTA 6potentially launching in the fall, there will be a lot of competition for 2025’s highest-rated game. However, a new indie puzzler has just registered a higher review score than any other game so far this year, knockingSplit Fictionoff the top spot.
That new indie puzzler isBlue Prince. Developed by Dogubomb andlaunching tomorrow, April 10, Blue Prince iscurrently sitting on a 91 on OpenCritic. That lofty aggregate score makes it the best game of 2025 at this point. Even though we’re less than a third of the way through the year, that’s still pretty impressive considering some of the heavyweights that have already launched.

Monster Hunter WildsandKingdom Come: Deliverance 2were the joint leaders at the end of February, each of them settling on a score of 89. Split Fiction then kicked off March by knocking them down into the runner-up positions by scoring a 90. Blue Prince has now changed the running order again and, provided other review scores don’t come in and drag down its 91, it will remain the best game of 2025 until something else comes along and scores a 92 or higher.
Blue Prince Has A Score Of 91 On OpenCritic
That’s Higher Than Any Other Game So Far This Year
If you hadn’t heard about Blue Prince and its impressive review scores have piqued your interest, there’s some very good news. Not only will Blue Prince be available onPS5,Xbox Series X|S, andPCwhen it launches on April 10, butit will be available on both Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra day one. One of the first games to launch on both services day one, somethingFBC Firebreakhas been getting a lot of praise for even though it hasn’t even been released yet.
As for what Blue Prince is all about, you embark on a quest throughout a 45-room mansion, your goal being to find the, possibly mythical, 46th room within a certain amount of time. Solving puzzles as you go, each in-game day the room positions are reset, meaning a room you visited one day might be in a completely different part of the house the next.

It sounds like a mind-bending adventure, and based on its review scores, it’s one that’s well worth your time. Since it will be on not one, but two top video game subscription services at launch, it also seems likely a lot of people will give it a go. Good news for those of us who will be baffled by the twisting mansions ever-changing floor plan and will need the help of others to make our way through it.
