Not only does doing so open a whole new set of paths and potential areas to explore, but you’ll also receive afree backpackfor your efforts.

By keeping the backpack in your inventory, you canright-click to open it, which gives you20 extra storage slotsto bring around with you, essentially adding two entire extra rows to your inventory space. You’ll need tomanually move items aroundbetween your inventory and your backpack, and you’ll need to be sure to drop those resources off when you get back home to ensure you’ve got space for whatever you need next, but it’s a massive help when you’ve got so much new stuff to discover.
If you’re trying to save space and find yourself using the same items in the same machines all the time, it’s a good idea to make use of theextra storage spaces at the bottom of machines. Almost all the blueprints you buy from Hopert will have a few storage slots on hand, which is a good place to stash items you’re using only in that machine for safe keeping. For example, you can stash most of your compost material in the storage spaces in the composter, and crushers have room for a few spare mushrooms you’re intending to crush soon as well.
Finally, another option to find free storage in Mudborne is bybreaking the chests and crates you see in the overworld. Not only will you periodically stumble onto empty crates while exploring the different maps, but you’ll almost always find a stone chest inside the locked rooms you’re sent to open as part of the main story. Byhitting these items with your hammer, you’ll be able to stash them in your inventory, bring them back home, and use them for yourself from there.
