Summary

WithVirtua Fighter 6being officially revealed a little while back with anexcellent concept video,we are anxiously waiting to see who makes the cut for the roster. While they’re generally pretty good at bringing the entire roster back from previous entries, along with new characters, it’s not always the case.

So far, Akira Yuki, Wolf Hawkfield, and what appears to be Sarah Bryant are the only confirmed characters, meaning many more can make the list or be left out completely. And with each of them having unique fighting styles, it’s hard to choose which ones we’d love to see more than others!

Fighting Style

Kyokushin

Perhaps not the most popular character in the series, as he made his debut in Virtua Fighter 5, Jean Kujo is a master of Kyokushin, a style of stand-up-fighting karate with a heavy focus on technique and form, making it incredibly rewarding in a game such as Virtua Fighter.

Jean is a powerful fighter and one of the best overall in Virtua Fighter 5, making him highly likely to make the cut in Virtua Fighter 6. His style is unique and hard-hitting, which is always fun to learn and play against, as you must be on the ball to execute his offense and defend against it!

Jeet Kune Do

Jacky Bryant is one of the more popular characters in the series and may be the most popular, even beating out the likes of Akira and Sarah. And that’s for good reason, as he’s been here since the start of the series and utilizes Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do fighting style to best his opposition.

His attacks are fast, fierce, and intelligent, giving him many options to strike incoming opponents' actions. Of course, this feels amazing to do in Virtua Fighter, as it feeds into the game’s unique ‘Triangle System,’ making him super rewarding to learn!

Vale Tudo

Next up is Vanessa Lewis, a more brawler-focused character in Virtua Fighter, who debuted in Virtua Fighter 4. Her aggressive Vale Tudo, no-holds-barred fighting style makes her tremendously fun to play, as its focus on striking and grappling feeds into the game’s intricate systems.

However, while Vanessa is an incredibly strong fighter, she is typically regarded as one of the more challenging characters to pick up and play. Still, her fighting style is too unique and rewarding not to want to see her in the next entry of Virtua Fighter!

Eileen posing in her unique combat stance in Virtua Fighter 5.

Hóu Quán

Speaking of unique fighting styles, Eileen arguably has the most bizarre one, but it is still a blast to learn all the same. Her Hóu Quán (Monkey Kung Fu) fighting style mimics movements similar to apes and monkeys, making her wildly unpredictable and deadly.

Eileen can make swift and devastating strikes, as well as climb on her opponent’s back and pummel their head in with her feral attacks. While she can be super annoying to deal with, there’s no denying that she’s fun to pick up and play, which is why we’d love to see her back in Virtua Fighter 6!

Muay Thai

From here, we move on to Brad Burns, the Muay Thai representative of Virtua Fighter, who debuted in Virtua Fighter 4. With a heavy focus on various strikes and clinches, he is a monster in the arena and can easily take control of the match once he gets going.

Using his fists, elbows, knees, and shins, Brad Burns can deliver lightning-fast attacks that pack a punch, making him relentless and challenging to deal with. We’d love to see a Muay Thai fighter be on the roster at launch, and who better than Brad Burns to take that slot back?!

Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu

Aoi Umenokojiis our next pick, as she finally became a solid fighter in the recent Virtua Fighter 5 Revo, allowing you to take full advantage of her tricky Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu fighting style, which has a strong focus on counters and throwing techniques that aim to subdue or greatly injure the attacking opponent.

Revo showcased just how strong her fighting style can be, and we’d love to see it get even more fleshed out in Virtua Fighter 6. Reading your opponent’s attacks and delivering the proper counter feels so good, especially if you may land a decent combo afterward. She is a must for the next installment!

Goh Hinogami leaning toward the camera with a menacing look on his face in Virtua Fighter 5.

Judo

Goh Hinogami is an incredibly vicious and foreboding character in Virtua Fighter who uses the art of Judo to annihilate his opposition, making him one of the best assassins within the Judgement 6 organization. This sadistic grappler first appeared in Virtua Fighter 4 and carried his aggression into subsequent entries.

Being a Judo master, Goh’s key focuses are grappling, wrestling, and ground fighting, meaning he’s not afraid to get dirty. Due to this, he is a bit challenging to play, as his strike game isn’t all that strong. Still, he’s deadly once you get the hang of him, and we’d love to see him back!

Kage-Maru entering his combat stance in Virtua Fighter 5.

Hagakure-ryū Jū-Jutsu

Another massively popular character is Kage-Maru, a Hagakure Ninja who uses his family’s Hagakure-ryū style Jū-Jutsu to obliterate his enemies. Due to this, he is very proficient at grappling, wrestling, striking, and kicking, making him an offensive powerhouse.

Kage-Maru can also perform high jump-in attacks and is very nimble, thanks to the training he received from his father. While he will likely make the roster on popularity alone, we needed to include him as it would be a bummer if he were absent!

Pai Chan posing with her unique fighting style stance in Virtua Fighter 5.

Mízōngyì

Pai Chanis another OG Virtua Fighter character who practices the arts of Mízōngyì, making her one of the series' more mobile and evasive fighters, as the fighting style focuses heavily on deception and mobility. She can also deliver blazingly fast and potent strikes, making her very challenging to fight against.

She has access to many unique stances and attacks that will naturally evade incoming actions of her opponent, placing her in a prime position to land a devastating strike on them when exposed, which can lead to massive damage. She’s very satisfying to play and learn, but irritating to fight, due to her extreme aggression!

Lucha Libre

Lastly, we have El Blaze, one of the most electrifying newcomers in Virtua Fighter 5, showcasing his high-flying Lucha Libre fighting style. He is exhilarating to pick up and play, as you may access many aerial attacks and unique grappling actions.

Yes, he is another wrestler, but he is very different in terms of execution and play style. He’s nimble and speedy, has access to decent strike options, but can unleash some wild throws that further highlight his electric Lucha Libre fighting style, making him remarkably fun to play!
