Summary
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33is a very popular game. It’s so popular thatphysical copies are running out,it’s being compared to Baldur’s Gate 3, and it’scurrently the highest-scoring game by users in the entirety of Metacritic history. People like Clair Obscur, but with almost every game out there, there are areas in which the game could be improved somewhat.
In an attempt to make Clair Obscur the “masterpiece it deserves to be”, fans of the game have been sharing their biggest criticisms on the official subreddit, the idea being to collect them all in one place so that Sandfall can make tweaks with future updates. It’s a nice idea, and fans do actually have some pretty cool suggestions that could elevate Clair Obscur even further.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Fans Are Calling For Character Loadouts And A Retry Battle Option
Reddit user Supermonk21 was the one to kick things off, and one of the more popular suggestions was the addition of character loadouts. Another user called xGlaive describes having to rework a character’s Pictos and Luminas “a chore”, while a user called Jibbbss calls reorganizing “a pain”, and that presets for these things would make things a lot easier.
Next up, a user called Noseydewdrops calls for some improvements to the game’s map, suggesting something to help let players know where they’ve been and what things they have left to do in each area, as running around in the post-game can be “easy to lose track”. It’s another popular suggestion, though some enjoy the feeling of getting lost.

In terms of combat, Jibbbss suggests that Sandfall should let you immediately retry battles if you lose, rather than have you sit in a loading screen and make you run back to a fight. In fact, another user called The_Big_Come_Up suggests that Sandfallshould have pinched the retry feature from Metaphor: ReFantazio, which is another brilliant JRPG that you should absolutely play if you like Clair Obscur.
Other suggestions include the addition of manual saves and some kind of bestiary that allows you to quickly check an enemy’s weaknesses, so it sounds like Sandfall has quite the job on its hands if it wants to make Clair Obscur shine as brightly as possible. Then again, it’s already critically and commercially successful, and nobody would blame the studio for wanting to move onto another project.
