Earlier this week, it was reported that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 hadthe highest Metacritic user score of all time, scoring an incredible (and unheard of) 9.7. It clearly seems like players are enamored with the game, too, as it has replicated its Metacritic record on the PlayStation store.
First noted byReddit UserEraser345, Clair Obscur has a staggeringuser rating of 4.92from over 11,000 reviews on the PlayStation Store. This number is unmatched by any other game that has over 1,000 reviews.
Its closest competitor is a lesser-known indie title from 2022, Omori,which sits at 9.1from 1,400 reviews. Next to that isVampire SurvivorsandSplit Fictionon 4.88,Persona 5 on 4.87, thenHadesandSignalis on 4.86. That puts Clair Obscur ahead of some very esteemed company.
Clair Obscur has become such a phenomenon, in fact, that the game’s popularity has led topraise from France’s president, Emmanuel Macron, who called it “a shining example of French audacity and creativity.”
