Bleach Rebirth of Soulsdoes a fantastic job at ensuring that every character has a unique moveset that distinguishes them from other fighters in the roster. From outlying weaknesses to pivotal strengths, there are certain playstyles you must master before you can jump into a battle. However, like any fighting game, not all characters here are made equal — some have higher damage output, while others have better mobility.

In this title, specifically, you have instances where a character can’t dash properly or is so DPS-intensive that they could damage themselves if not careful. Thus, if you want to win, there’s a good chance you’ll want to find a meta fighter that either excels at everything or is exceptionally strong in a prevalent niche.

Tier List Rankings

The list below divides all the characters in Bleach Rebirth of Souls into five chronological tiers:S, A, B, C, and D. The higher up they are on the list, the better they’ll perform in battlebased on their damage-per-second (DPS), range, comeback potential, and any unique match-defining mechanics they may have.

Here’s what each tier represents:

Generally, you can use any character in and above B-tierat a tournament level. Characters below those tiers either require extremely high skill to work or are justoutshone by the rest of the cast, which is why they’re not as recommendable.

Every character has a Control Level between one and five stars, with one being the easiest and five being the toughest to play.

S Tier

This tier is full of battle-tested characters that doridiculous, high-damage attacks and combosthatshred through the enemy’s health bars and often win matches. You’ll mostly encounter players usingone of these meta characters because of their overpowered kitor a gimmick that’s just too good to ignore.

9

Kisuke Urahara summoning a mat of fire in Bleach Rebirth of Souls.

5

What makes Soi Fon so lethal as a character is herability to build a ton of meter. On top of that, her attacks are unbelievably quick and long-ranged, and the fact thatmost of them are safe on blockpractically feels unjustified.

Toshiro summoning a giant ice dragon behind himself in Bleach Rebirth of Souls.

8

Ichigo’s Bankai version is the character you want to pickif you can reliably perform combos. With the right timing and delivery, his comboslast incredibly long and deal surreal damage, especially if you repeatedly mix Getsuga Sign into them.

Yasutora Sado reaching his Awakened state in Bleach Rebirth of Souls.

2

Renji’s Awakening, or at least the first few seconds of it, isarguably the scariest thing you can encounter in Rebirth of Souls. His chip damage and damage output are absurd, his range is massive, and he can almostguarantee a Soul Break unless you’re using a hard counterlike Ikkaku.

Kaien’s damage output is through the roofif you can optimize your combos. However, what truly amplifies his kit is theshockingly low recovery, making him unpunishable by the majority of the cast.

3

Tier Hallibel is an absolute monsterwhen she reaches Awakening. The highlight is certainly her Spiritual Move 1, which has exceptional utility and lets youweave it in multiple times into mid-difficulty combosfor a boatload of damage.

Similar to Bankai Ichigo,Nelliel’s combo potentialputs her in a league of her own, with several low-risk starters that canresult in a Touch of Death (or ToD) combo.

A Tier

The characters in this tier are incredibly well-rounded, with the tools tosomewhat compete with the meta characterssitting in S-tier. Despite a slightly weaker skill set, they have high potential, which, when mastered, cancomfortably hand you more than a few wins.

If you cancontrol Yamamoto’s self-damage, there’s almost nothing the opponent can do to rival your damage output. Even hisbasic normals wipe out 20% or more HP.

Byakuya is unfathomably easy to play andstomps a good chunk of characters in neutral. He hasone of the highest play rates in the online mode, making himthe prime choice for beginners and novice players.

As another combo-focused character,Kisuke requires critical executionif you want to discover his full potential. Fortunately, when you do, he can carry outsome killer combos with his Spiritual Move 1that consistently knock off 50 percent or more HP.

4

Ulquiorra’s Reawakening is undoubtedlythe biggest win condition in the game. Although it takes a while to reach this state, his Reawakening’sdamage output is so off the chartsthat it can knock off Konpaku in the blink of an eye.

Ikkaku is the living embodiment of"if I can react, I win". His moveset primarily contains counters, and these are the only moves in Rebirth of Souls thatbeat Breakers and Grab attacks. If you have faith in your parrying skills, Ikkaku is absolutely your best bet.

1

Similar to the anime, Aizen has a complete bag of tricks thathard counters quite a few characters. When you factor in his accessibility and comeback potential with Reawakening,he can be a deadly pick in the right hands.

Besides Shunsui’s devastating Guard Gauge damage, hisgimmicky Awakening allows you to craft several nifty tacticsthat can easily outfox unsuspecting players. Heencourages you to be creative, and the sneakier you are, the better you’ll play with him.

Mayuri Kurotsuchi is thetextbook definition of a setup character, and he’s one of the strongest examples in that category. You can follow up on his poison bombs with a variety of attacks, all of which cause a considerable HP trim,on top of a DoT stack.

Withsuperb normals and a lightning-fast grab, the grind to unlock Dangai Ichigo is well worth what he can accomplish on the battlefield. He’s one of the most unique characters you’ll find, from being the only fighter without Awakening to landinga guaranteed kill with three Kikon Moves.

B Tier

B-tier is where things start getting dicey. With the right amount of practice and skill, you can still use these characters to gather wins, but they come with either a notoriously high skill ceiling, a few susceptible weaknesses, or other limiting factors like low damage output or range. They’re not unusable by any means, but there are better options you can choose to get more favorable results.

Toshiro can be a menacing figurethe moment he reaches Level Three, gathering enough combat power to unleash easy ToDs. Unfortunately, hisbackdash is questionable at best, forcing you to suffer hits on defense.

In a nutshell,Rangiku is a better version of Uryu Ishidain terms of zoning potential. However, she sacrifices a viable Breaker moveto get that long-range proficiency.

Aside from her rapid jab, there are a lot of minor drawbacksholding Yoruichi back. From a weak Breaker tolosing ranged battles against other characters, you have to go an extra mile to cover her weaknesses.

Despite the nerfs, Rukia is still a solid pickbecause of her seven-frame Quick Attack and pressure. If she still had her reliable Fireball, she would undoubtedly have landed in A or S-tier.

Ikkaku existing in Rebirth of Soulsmakes Shinji feel redundant. Bothextensively rely on counters to gain an advantage, but Ikkaku’s counter-beating Breaker makes him a much better choice than Baldy.

The poster boysticks to good fundamentals that teach you everythingyou need to know. He’s the jack of all trades but the master of none, andhis Bankai version offers better pressure and early-game control.

Although Grimmjow isa speedy fellow with high chip potential, there’s no world where he makes sense when Hallibel is in the game. Comparatively, she hasmuch better normals, damage output, and combo routes.

This guy hasfairly decent damage and rangeon his normals, but he attains those features at the cost ofa weak oki, neutral play, and Breaker.

C Tier

This is the threshold where you can startfinding characters that players usually ignorebecause of their underwhelming nature. Although feasible, they’re either too bland or have a giant weakness that opponents can exploit. In short, the downsides of the characters in B-tierare kicked up a notch here.

Izuru’s a run-of-the-mill character withan honest skill set. If you may anticipate his spammy unblockable attack, this character hasnothing in his arsenal to overwhelm you with.

One of the biggest pitfalls you can have in fighting games is havingpredictable and punishable moves, which is exactly what Gin suffers from. He can be a problem at close range, but it’s very easy for him towhiff his attacks and open himself up to a nasty counterattack.

Shuhei gets significantly better the moment he reaches Awakening, but hisearly-game disadvantages are too much to ignore. Knocking off justone Konpaku without Soul Breakis unjustifiable, especially when your opponent uses that time to build their late-game plays.

Chad’s only viable gimmick is himcharging his Impact Gauge from half an arena awayand using it to remove one-third of your opponent’s HP if landed successfully. Beyond that, his moveset has nothing special.

Sajin’sSpiritual Move 2 is a beastly movewith incredible damage and range figures. Sadly, it’s his only saving grace, sincethe rest of his kit is just average, and his Awakened form is a much weaker version of Renji.

Uryu’s zoning potential is decent, but he hasno recourse when the opponent moves in. His only “option” is the Quick Attack, which is extremely weak becauseit can’t apply meaningful pressure.

D Tier

Reaching the D-tier category, these characters are just disappointing and in desperate need of buffs. They’re irredeemable in most cases, and even their redeeming factors (if any) aren’t enough to make them viable. The easy tip is to ignore them and use your learning skills elsewhere.

The higher ranks you reach with Kaname, the worse he gets. It’s a shame you can negate his main gimmick by justbeing patient and mildly good at defense.

Even with the minimal effort you put into learning Coyote Starrk, the payoff just isn’t worth it. From shockingly low damage to sluggish attack speeds, unusable side steps, and uninspiring specials, you’reactively at a disadvantage when playing him.

Anything good about Szayel is automatically thrown out the windowbecause of his laughable Konpaku count. If your opponent gains any early-game momentum,it’s essentially a death sentence.

Kenpachi’spredictable skill set and pathetically weak rangeare his biggest shortcomings. He simply cannot hit anyone with his normalsif the opponent is holding the back button.
