Summary
As theApril 25 launch dayforDays Gone Remasteredquickly approaches,Sony’s Bend Studio wants fans to know that the release is more than just a graphical touch-up.Beyond introducing new modes, Bend is determined that its release will “showcase the game’s potential.”
In a new post shared on the PlayStation Blog, creative and product lead at Bend Studio, Kevin McAllister, discussed the changes being made to a title thatsome were calling “a $10 Platinum,“despite the gamecharting on the PlayStation Store’s top preorders.

“You’ll See The Difference” Between The Remaster And The Original Game
As it stands, the original Days Gone runs at 60fps and 4K on PlayStation 5, though it appears the game will be even more breathtaking via the remaster.
“The graphical improvements we’ve made — you’ll see the difference,” McAllister said. “There’s increased lighting, increased shadow quality, increased fog depth. For example, nighttime is now darker; the moon is more natural-looking. The blue sky is more natural, too — Days Gone is a very realistic-looking game. And we’ve taken that to a new level with the PS5.”

Not only will the game look better, but it will also feature new modes, including a Horde Assault mode that will seemingly take full advantage of the PS5’s capabilities. In the original game, the biggest horde topped out at 500 Freakers, but in the remaster, that number can touch 800.
As outlined previously, there will be a Permadeath mode that will have players either beat the game from start to finish without dying, or on a per-act basis to not wipe out hours of progress.

“Well, what’s the ultimate challenge? Deathless. So now, you’re really getting that true survival experience. I think players are going to dig it,” McAllister explained.
It’s worth noting that the $10 upgrade is only available to those who haveactually purchased the game before, either on-disc or digitally. Those whoclaimed the game via PlayStation Plus are not eligible. No matter which camp you fall under, it does seem like quite a bit of work was put into this release.
