Summary
Few things are as satisfying inmodern video gamesas awell-constructed and memorable boss fight. If you’re a Soulsborne fan, then that also means memorable and difficult.
With thereleaseofDeath Stranding 2: On the Beach(June 26) rapidly approaching, more and more information about Hideo Kojima’s latest project is beginning to trickle out. This time, it appears that when Death Stranding 2 launches, it’ll take the classic boss encounter experience and turn it on its head.

Fight If You’d Like, Or Simply Just Lose And Move On
As first shared on Twitter by gamer and reliable translator Genki_JPN, in Death Stranding 2, boss fights will seemingly be an entirely optional experience.
Via the Hideo Kojima Radio program, players will be able to essentially “skip” a boss via a few quick button presses in-game. First, it’ll require players to be on the “Game Over” screen AKA dead, then an option will be presented underneath the “Continue” button to let you “Clear” the boss fight.

From there, rather than forcing players to replay the encounter, “image and text descriptions of the battle like a novel” will be displayed, giving players all the information they need to keep on gaming.
Per the post, this is to help players who may not be as experienced or well-versed in action games continue to play without any hiccups. It’s unclear if this will only be accessible on the lowest difficulty, though it ultimately represents a new form of accessibility that, at least, narrative-wise, allows everyone to experience a game the same way. And knowing Kojima, the “visual” novel is probably highly unique and may end up better than the fight itself.
