Normally, this wouldn’t be all too big a deal, as the media giant is constantly renewing things. However, it is particularly interesting considering that, despite a 95% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes, the show has a disappointing 62 percent audience score.

Indeed, fans were none too pleased with the adaptation, with fans arguing that it’s a poor depiction of Dante, portraying him more like Deadpool than his video game self. It’s not canon, but it also doesn’t seem like a good representation of the video game series, either.

Still, even with that negative sentiment, the show has quickly climbed to be among Netflix’s highest-streamed properties. On its Top 10 Global Shows, Devil May Cry sits at No. 4, behind the critical hit Adolescence, documentary Gone Girls and drama Pulse.

As The Hollywood Reporter noted in its report, Devil May Cry has amassed 5.3 million views in its first week of being available. That rounds out to about 21 million hours watched for a show that has almost four hours of runtime.

Those aren’t small numbers by any means, and it sits in the Top 10 of all available titles in 87 countries, according to the company. In other words, it’s a bonafide hit, even if fan sentiment is really low, something that the Minecraft movie is also experiencing, only with poor critical reception instead.
