Summary
It has beenan extremely long timesince we last had a properDeus Exgame, nearly 10 years to be exact. However, it appears that Eidos Montreal is actively trying to find a way to bring back the franchise.
No Publisher Has Committed To The Pitch
In a new report published by Insider Gaming’s Mike Straw, Eidos Montreal has been actively pitching to its partners and publishers a new Deus Ex title. According to Straw’s sources, the studio had been pitching the game “regularly,” though no one has ultimately committed to making it a reality.
The reason?

Per the report, there’s a belief that Deus Ex as a franchise is “too niche.” More so, publishers aren’t ready to assume the “risk” of greenlighting a new entry. As it stands, the pitched game is reportedly full of “charm and novelty,” though it doesn’t meet the “expectations or standards typically associated with the Deus Ex brand.”
The Last Deus Ex Game Is Nearly 10 Years Old
Fans of the franchise last experienced an entry in 2016, when Deus Ex: Mankind Divided released onPlayStation 4andXbox Oneconsoles. There was some post-launch DLC content that expanded things, but after that, the franchise has been largely MIA.
In 2022,it was reported that a new game was in the works, but its development was characterized as “very very early.“Flash forward to 2024,and the game was reportedly outright canceled, with developers being laid off by Embracer Group.
In between the cancelation, both Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal shared in 2023 that by July 16, 2025, the two studios are planning on having released five Triple-A titles. To this point, neither studio has released a major title, casting some doubt on the lofty goals.
