Summary

The official KoreanNintendowebsite forMario Kart Worldhas seemingly accidentally confirmed that Rainbow Road will be featured in the game, despite it being missing from the world map during theDirect.

Just a few days ago, Nintendo had arguably its biggest Direct of all time and finally gave us all of the details on its next console, the Nintendo Switch 2. As we all figured from theconsole’s first tease, the big game the console will be launching with is Mario Kart World, which looks to take the series in a more open and much bigger direction.

While Mario Kart World seems to build upon Mario Kart 8 Deluxein pretty much every way (infamously including the price), there was one notable omission during the Nintendo Direct andsubsequent Treehouse gameplay reveal- the series' most iconic and frustrating track, Rainbow Road.

Let’s Hope It’s Less Frustrating Than Mario Kart 8’s Version

During the Direct,Nintendo showed off the whole map for Mario Kart World, which gave us a good idea of how many tracks it’s going to have at launch and where we’ll be racing around. For whatever reason, though,Rainbow Road was completely missing from the map, sparking some worries that it might not be making a comeback.

Don’t worry, though, as it seems that Nintendo was just trying to save it as a surprise before accidentally revealing it themselves. As pointed out by Twitter user Stealth40k, the leak comes from the Korean version of the official website for Mario Kart World which, like other territories' websites, shows an image of the world map.

The Korean website’s map is a little different, though, as it very briefly featured an area that looks like World’s version of Rainbow Road, complete with the star sign and the titular road itself. The website has since been updated to remove Rainbow Road, butimages of it have already been taken and shared, including by Twitter user EdwardSabaVO.

If Nintendo is trying to hide the area, it seems like it’ll be an unlockable of some kind, likely after beating every other race in the game. With World allowing you to race around freely, it’ll be interesting to see how the game handles a level that’s usually in space or at least high above the map. At least now we know that we’re going to find out.
