UPDATE: 2025-07-21 19:30 EST BY RHIANNON BEVAN

It’s back online.

I just managed to sign in - the Dragon Age Keep is back! Hopefully, that means it isn’t going to be abandoned anytime soon and will continue to be fixed whenever it goes offline, even after the shake-ups at BioWare.

Summary

BioWarewas presented with a serious problem when a new console generation launched - what to do withDragon Agesave files? WithMass Effect, all of the games launched in the same generation, so it was easy enough to carry over our decisions. However,Dragon Age: Inquisitionwas making the leap toPS4andXbox One, whereas the previous two games were onPS3andXbox 360.

The Dragon Age Keep was an imperfect solution, but a vital one. This website lets you inputevery single decisionthat your Warden and Hawke made inDragon Age: OriginsandDragon Age 2, respectively. Whether it’s as big as who sits on the Ferelden throne or as small as whether or not you fed the prisoner in Ostagar, everything is accounted for here, allowing for a lot of reactivity in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

And now, the site is down. That is nothing new for fans, as the Keep does tend to go offline, along with the Dragon Age servers as a whole. But it’s noteworthy this time because this could very well be the first outage sinceall of the layoffsandrestructurings at BioWare. So, the speed at which it comes back could give us an idea of how many people there are at BioWare to keep an eye on things like this.

It’s Unclear When The Dragon Age Keep Site Will Be Up Again

A coupleof fansover on Reddit noticed that the Keep was down over the weekend, and true enough, you can’t sign into it at all. However, unlike previous outages, this does not appear to be an issue with the Dragon Age servers. This means that if you had already input all of your decisions and uploaded the world state on your profile, then you should still be able to import it in Dragon Age: Inquisition. I tested it out, and Inquisition said that my custom world state was imported just fine when I went to make a new character, so that does appear to be working.

When it wasdown last time, an EA support repmentioned a permanent fix being considered, but nothing seems to have come of that - and that was before all the layoffs.

However, this is just another reminder that this aging site is all that stands between us and being able to do a full run of the series with our choices intact. If you’re on PC, you’ll at least be able to play around with a save editor and put your choices in that way, but anyone on console will be screwed when EA pulls the plug on the Keep. Hopefully, given thatDragon Age: The Veilguardis only a few months old, andInquisition itself was just on sale, that plug hasn’t been pulled already.
