Summary
There’s no doubt thatElden Ringwill go down as one of the greatest games of our generation. The culmination of FromSoftware’s Souls series features the stunning open world of The Lands Between, some iconic bosses, and lore written by none other than George R.R. Martin. Is it really any surprise that it has officially sold 30 million copies?
Its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC was so good thatmany considered it a contender for Game of the Year, even though it wasn’t a standalone game. Very few games have accomplished what Elden Ring has, setting a new bar for open-world RPGs. It became so popular that FromSoftware even used it as a base to venture into the multiplayer co-op realm with Nightreign.

Elden Ring Is Not Yet Done
You may think that there’s no more that Elden Ring can achieve. However, it’s bound to get a bump with the launch of the Switch 2.Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition has been confirmed for Nintendo’s newest console, and you can be sure that fans will want to take their Tarnished on the go and even try out new builds.
Considering that The Tarnished Edition includes new armour sets, a skin for Torrent, and a few more goodies, you can expect completionists to dive back to The Lands Between in search for them. The fact that lore is uncovered through item descriptions means fans will want to check these items out for themselves. This content will come to other versions of the game, butfans are unsure if they’ll have to pay for it.

As for the future of Elden Ring, FromSoftware has given no signal about what its next project will be. It seems unlikely that the studio will want to leave the IP behind, but Miyazaki and his team are going to have to come up with a great way to link a new map with The Lands Between. Perhaps an altered version, like Hyrule inTears of the Kingdommight be the way to go.
