One of the things that creates so many possibilities is the enchanting system in the game.

These enchantments and enchantment combinations, especially when paired with more than one weapon, make for wildly powerful possibilities.

Because of the nearly endless number of enchantment combination possibilities, there are going to be more fantastic enchantment combinations that can’t possibly be contained in a single list. This will, however, provide a good starting point, showing the potential of certain enchantments and combinations, letting you experiment from here.

7Silence

No Spells For You

Silenceis a simple and extremely effective way to deal with enemy Mages.Silenceprevents them from casting spells; it won’t cancel any spells that they’ve already cast, like a Conjuration or some kind of armoring spell, but it will prevent them from casting anything new, as long as theSilenceduration lasts.

This is agreat way to force Mages to attack with a weapon, provided they have one. Most are going to attack with a dagger, but they will be far less lethal with that than they would be with their spellcasting. You can put this enchantment on whatever your preferred weapon type is for your build, and then swap to a different weapon that has a damaging effect.

6Soul Trap

Want To Tag Along?

If you’re making regular use of enchanted weapons, you’re going to need aconstant supply of charged soul gems to keep your enchantments functional. PuttingSoul Trapon a weapon is going to ensure that whatever you kill with that weapon is going to get trapped in a soul gem, provided you have one of the right size in your inventory already.

This can beused as a finisher-style weapon, with you switching to this for the last couple of strikes, or combined with a damaging effect, if you’d prefer. But if you’re looking to maximize potential, separating this from your damage-enchantment weapon allows the other weapon to do more damage for less cost.

5Command (Humanoid And/Or Creature)

Fight With Me

Command is going toforce whatever your target is to fight for you. The level and length of the effect are going to be determined by your soul gem size and the length you set when enchanting. This is going to even the playing field in an outnumbered situation, and if you have a few enemies in front of you, the enemy you’re temporarily in control of will likely end up dying in the process.

This can be an extremely fun enchantment, and can be used to great effect on any weapon type. Oneparticularly fun way to use this is on a bow; hit an enemy from afar when they don’t know you’re there, and you can start enemies fighting against each other without you needing to be involved at all.

4Disintegrate Weapon

Stop Using That

Against enemies whose damage comes primarily from a certain kind of weapon, this can be anextremely effective way of limiting their damage. Once their weapon is fully damaged, they’re going to need to switch off it, and it will put them at an extreme disadvantage.

This is often not too useful against everyday enemies, butenemies that have a higher amount of health are going to suffer much more from this, because you’ll be able to hit them with it much more often.

3Weakness To Poison

A Punishing Combination

This one can be a little bit complicated, but once you have a combo with it that works, it can be extremely effective. This willincrease the damage that an enemy takes from poison by a certain amount; in the case of every weapon except for bows, you will need to apply the poison with a different weapon or effect.

In the case of bows, you can haveweakness to poisonand a poison effect on the same weapon, and it will inflict an increased amount of poison damage.

For a character with aheavyemphasis on Alchemy, this can be a very fruitful combo. Weaken an enemy to poison, and use a heavy stock of poison potions to put an enemy’s health into freefall. Keep in mind that certain enemies are immune to poison, like Argonians.

2Absorb Health

Deal Damage And Restore Health

This is an excellent enchantment for characters who regularly fightin melee range, particularly for those who fight with quicker-hitting melee weapons. This is going to both damage the enemies' health each time you hit them and transfer that health to you instead.

You basically enable yourself to stick in a fight by staying aggressive, as opposed to needing to back off to heal. The more often you hit, the more damage you do andthe more you heal, letting you keep yourself in difficult situations that most other characters would need to retreat from.

1Absorb Magicka

Let Me Take That Magic Off Your Hands

This can be combined with the last effect if you’d like, though it’ll either require a stronger soul gem, fewer charges, or less of an absorption effect because of the combined enchantment. This is a very good enchantment for Mages, particularly those who have an affinity for close-range spellcasting and combat.

With this, feel free to front-load a lot of spells in the fight, draining your Magicka. Swap to a weapon with this effect, and attack any enemy Mage in the area. This is going tohamper their effectivenessover time and steadilyrestore your ability to continue casting spells.
