The Sims 4kits have always covered niche items and the theme of Restoration Workshop is more obscure than most. This kit is based around making a workshop space in a garage or shed and fixing up old items. Make a handy Sim happy with their very own workspace, or just add some tools to your garage.
The kit includes a variety of rusty appliances which Sims can restore, as well as a selection of workshop storage, shelving, lighting, decor, and clutter. If you want to make a unique and practical workshop for your handy Sims, then this is the kit for you.

9Workbenches And Bucket Seat
There are two workbenches. One has an empty top and is usable for crafting to improve your handiness skill. The design is more detailed than those in the game currently, and it also has swatches for a scuffed-up and dirtier version that looks like it’s in regular use. The odd pieces of wood and tools underneath give it a much more realistic feel.
The second workbench-looking item is actually a desk piled with clutter. This is the kind of desk you moved into a workspace then realized you’d never use, so it ended up as a space to put random things. While it cannot be used as a regular desk, it does have a clutter slot so you can put a tablet down on it, then pick it up for use. You can also place the upturned bucket close by and use it as a seat.
8Appliances
There are four different appliances in this kit: a fridge, oven, microwave and coffee machine. When you take them out of build and buy mode and place them in your world, they are automatically broken and dirty-looking. Just make sure that if you want to fix them up in the workshop you’ll need to have a kitchen counter to hand as the microwave and coffee machine cannot be placed anywhere else.
To skip the repairs, enable testing cheats, then use the bb.showliveobjects cheat to select the restored versions directly from build buy mode.
The beauty of these is that you can work on them by selecting the restore option and, over time, your Sim will fix them up. The higher the handiness skill, the quicker the process is. Once they are restored, they’ll look as good as new, although they do cost the same as regular appliances, which is annoying when you have to work to get them usable.
7Tool Storage Drawers
There are three types of tool storage. A large rolling tools chest, a smaller rolling tool chest and a tool box which fits on shelves in the pack. Both of the rolling tool chests have a clutter slot on the top so you may place the tool box on top of either of them and it matches perfectly.
As with the main large items in the pack, you’ll find red, blue, green, yellow, black and white swatches as well as a rusted and scuffed version of each one. You can mix and match to create a unique look of older and newer tools mixed together in your space, allowing for a more natural customization.
6A Boiler, Fusebox And Sink
For Rent first included the idea of maintenance with a water heater and fuse box. You’ll find a new version of both here which not only look more detailed but also have an option for you to perform maintenance on them. Doing this when the option becomes available will enable you to prevent the water heater or fuse box from breaking. If they do break, you’ll lose hot water and/or electricity until they are fixed.
Maintenance is faster than repair and well worth doing. You can also upgrade both appliances to lengthen the time between maintenance needing to be done. As with appliances, you’ll build handiness skills by doing this and the more skilled you are, the faster it is to perform maintenance.
5Lighting, Sink, And A Fan
These items are practical additions to your space. As you’d expect, the lights and sink are both fully functional. What you might not expect is that the fan can also be turned on and provides a cold breeze.
Neutral swatches and rusted versions are available for all three items and the workshop aesthetics are perfect. The strip light is one commonly found in a workshop and the utilitarian sink is very practical and perfect for that kind of space. The working fan is also a nice addition and the neutral swatches make it usable in a ran ge of different rooms.
4Floor And Wall Designs
The wall designs here are a combination of rough paint and bare plaster to create a unique look we don’t have elsewhere. It gives the impression of a half finished workspace or construction being in progress.
There is no flooring in the pack, but there is a floor decor item which resembles different kinds of floor spillage. you may have sand, sawdust, grease, dirt and other grime. These work well with the rougher-looking tiles or wooden flooring we have, and you can even layer them up for extra dirtiness.
3Versatile Shelving Units
These versatile shelving units are a mixture of metal and wood and have completely empty shelves. The low one is the same height as a kitchen counter, while the tall one has a cupboard in the bottom half.
Both have plenty of clutter slots, so you can add different combinations of items to them. The plastic boxes and tool boxes fit on both shelves, although the top shelf on the tall unit doesn’t fit quite as much as it feels like it should.
2Shelving With Clutter
These shelves are full of classic workshop clutter. The wall shelf includes a range of tools such as saws, hammers, drills, and screwdrivers. They are neatly organised and well spaced, giving you a place where all your woodworking essentials appear to be stored.\
You can also place the wide shelf on the wall as well as the floor should you prefer.
The second cluttered storage unit is similar. This has more extras in, such as nails, glue, and screws. It’s a unit that looks a little like it was built by it’s owner, with a mismatched design that’s unique and perfect for this environment.
1Clutter Items
These clutter items are unique due to having a use beyond just looking good. The wooden box of offcuts allows you to ponder your next project, building a little handiness skill. The plastic boxes and clutter piles both function as storage, allowing your Sim to add and remove items to them as you would your inventory.
The Scrap Savvy Storage even comes with four different upgrade parts already inside, and plenty of room for more. This enables you to collect the items you need to perform upgrades from a box in your workshop, adding utility to the items and depth to your gameplay.
