Burnie

Red

Burnie is a fiery one - as the name may suggest. Make sure you have fire alarms everywhere.

Pyritie

Yellow

This golden dragon is more reserved than Burnie, but don’t be fooled: they’ll still burn the place down if left alone for too long.

Torch

Purple

Torch is the calmest of this scaly bunch and is the least likely to turn your belongings into ash and dust. It’s not impossible, though.

Although it’s useful to have a dragon that doesn’t burn the house down so quickly, it’s also tough to know exactly how dragons are feeling - especially when they aren’t quick to singe the sofa - asyou can’t see their motives.

This means that timid Torch might be tougher to take care of in some ways, as it’ll take longer for you to figure out what’s going on with them. But it probably pays off insofar as they have the fewest arsonist tendencies of all the dragons.

How To Get Each Type Of Dragon

The colour of your dragon isdecided by how much you interact with them in the nest. Basically, theystart off as red and turn yellow, then purple, as you spend time with them.

Your Sim cancradle, rotate, and play musicto dragon nests. Each time they do one of these things counts as an interaction. So, spend very little time with your dragon nest if you want a red dragon, but fuss them constantly for a purple one.

How Long Does It Take For A Dragon To Hatch?

It takesabout two daysfor your dragon to be ready to hatch. When they’re ready, the mini-cam in the corner will tell you. Youcan’t buy them pre-hatched, so you need to wait patiently to meet your new pet.

How To Care For Your Dragon

Dragons in The Sims 1 are quite straightforward to take care of in some senses, as they onlyhave three needs: Hunger, Energy, and Fun. They’re also fairly autonomous, as they’ll often find food to snack on (for better or for worse).

Dragons eat dragon treats, spoiled human food, and piles of garbage. They’ll alsosometimes eat from pet food bowls, so if you have Unleashed (Or The Sims: Legacy Edition) then you’re best off placing bowls in Buy Mode and filling them up for them often.

They also love to tear up and eat your outdoor flower beds. This is inconvenient, but it’s better they do that then get hungry and burn the place down.

They’llfill up their Energy motivemostly by themselves if youleave their nest outfor them to sleep in.Fun is slightly trickierto keep on top of as they need company - other little dragons, pets, and even gnomes - to play with. Or, you cangive them dragon toysfrom Vicki.

Your Sim caninteract directly with dragons, too. You canclick on them to tickle, groom, or petthem. Aww. Don’t use Set Free, though, as your dragon will permanently leave home.

Can Dragons Die?

No!Thankfully not. But, if theyfeel neglected they will fly offto live with another family instead, so make sure to keep on top of their needs at all times.

Even though dragons don’t have to worry about death, your Sims aren’t so lucky. A neglected dragon might try out some other extreme measures to have their needs heard before they pack their little bags and leave.

A neglected dragon willset fire to Simsand their belongings. This can be fatal in many cases, particularly asfires in The Sims 1are massively hard to manage. They can bequick to burn the house downand indirectly kill your Sims. Or, dragons might just light your Sim directly on fire either.

Cover your house with fire alarms. Seriously.

Benefits Of Having A Pet Dragon

The main benefit of owning a dragon is exactly that: having a pet dragon. But, the demanding creatures can earn their keep nicely by beingsources of Dragon Scales and Dragon Tears; key items in Magic Town.

You can also buy Dragon Scales and Dragon Tears from Vicki.

How To Get Dragon Scales

Dragons sometimesdrop scales when groomedby Sims. These scales can besold for 21 MagiCoins, which can then be spent on more dragon treats and toys, or they can used for a few spells and charms:

All of the above canonly be used by Child Sims, so you should get your kids to collect dragon scales. Or, if your Sims are child-free, you’re best off just selling them for MagiCoins, and thus more gifts for your dragon.

Age of Instant is arguably one of the best charms in the game as it’s the only way of getting a Child Sim to grow up into an Adult Sim.

How To Get Dragon Tears

If youtickle your dragon, sometimes they will drop Dragon Tears. You cansell them for 24 MagiCoinsin Magic Town, or use them in the following spells and charms:
