Most of the new merch items created to celebrate 25 years of Final Fantasy 9 are plushes based on the game’s lead characters. There are ten in total, including plushes modeled after Zidane, Garnet, and Vivi. Zidane and Garnet have also joined Square’s popular Form-Ism figure collection, marking the first time anyone from Final Fantasy 9 has been given the Form-Ism treatment.

The pair has quickly followed in the footsteps ofKingdom Hearts' Riku who got his own Form-Ism figureat the end of last week.

Square Enix Is Preparing For Final Fantasy 9’s 25th Anniversary

All Fans Want To Know About Is The Rumored Remake

Even though the release dates for everything in Square’s expansive new Final Fantasy 9 collection will be spread out across the summer, it is all available to pre-order through the Japanese site right now. It’s also very likely that it will be made available in the US and elsewhere soon. Square tends to only leave a small gap between opening pre-orders in Japan before making its merchandise available elsewhere.

Unfortunately, there’s no mention of a Final Fantasy 9 remake, and judging by the responses to the launch of an anniversary website, that’s all many of you really want. The requests for a remake aren’t coming out of the blue, either. Far from it, as rumors that Final Fantasy 9 is getting the remake treatment have been swirling for years, yet there has still been no confirmation that the project is even real, let alone nearing completion.

It’s almost three years to the day since rumors started to swirlsuggesting Final Fantasy 9 might be following in Final Fantasy 7’s footstepsand getting the remake treatment. Various insiders have corroborated those rumors sporadically between now and then, with the most recent update coming as just last month whena leaker assured fans of the original it’s still happening.

Yoshi-P has addressed the rumors, denying them and claiming there is no Final Fantasy 9 remake. However, the Final Fantasy producer has also said if, hypothetically, Final Fantasy 9 were to be remade,Square wouldn’t split it into three partslike it has done withFinal Fantasy 7.
