Summary

There are many reasons as to why we might switch on a video game, whether it be tochill out after a hard day at work, or hang out with friends.A lot of us also like to test our gaming reflexesby booting up a hard game, but there are times when a game can be so challenging that it makes you want to break your controller in half and denounce all video games until you die.

The hardest levels in gaming was recently a topic brought up on Reddit earlier this week, as a user called Debagnox asked fellow gamerswhat the most “rage-inducing” level they’ve ever experienced was. It’s a pretty open-ended question, and I’m pretty sure everyone has their own personal story, so there’s no surprise the replies are in the thousands.

Gamers Share The Most “Rage-Inducing” Levels They’ve Ever Experienced

Despite that, there are a few games that pop up a lot more than others, and the most popular answer by a user called Mediocrityindepth puts the Internation A License test from the originalGran Turismoon blast, as they say it “lives rent-free in my head nearly thirty years later”. On a similar note, another popular answer by a user called Bongo_Kickflip mentions the tutorial level from Driver, which is pretty renowned for being a pain in the rear.

Away from racing games, we now head to platformers, as a user called Gravy-Jones makes me relive childhood trauma by mentioning the pachinko level inSuper Mario Sunshine, which would often glitch out and throw Mario into the abyss. The Lion King on the SNES gets a couple of mentions too, as Nakorite and Embarassed-Ideal-18 bring up the stampede and waterfall levels respectively.

Halois another game that’s mentioned quite a bit, mostly thanks to the existence of The Flood with rocket launchers. The Library and Two Betrayals from Halo: Combat Evolved are mentioned specifically as the problem ones, the latter of which also includes stealth Elites with Energy Swords that will cut you down in one hit. Thanks for that trauma Bungie.

There are loads of other fun picks on the list too, including the guard ambush inJak 2, the racing section in the originalMafia, Meat Circus inPsychonauts, and a bunch of others. If that says anything, it’s that game developers like to torture us, but at least we made some memories along the way.
