Genshin Impact has been teasing theSong of the Welkin Moon update ever since Jun 06, 2025, with the first revelation of the web event, whichgot another update on Aug 01, 2025. This update showed a bunch of factions that you’ll find in Nod-Krai, and the familiar names within already made the community very excited.

During the “Let’s Start With Nod-Krai” live stream, developers Crab and Aquaria started by revealing the reason behind the existence of Nod-Krai. They admitted that due to the rushed nature of the story in each region, a lot of important details of Teyvat were missed, and Nod-Krai is meant to bridge the gaps in this story before Travelers continue further in their journey.
Next, the developers talked about how Nod-Krai’s story will be centered around moons,mentioning the moon-related story we’ve witnessed in Dragonspine, Tsurumi Island, and many other murals around the world. They revealed that the three moons' power was primordial and it existed even before the seven elements, and every faction in Nod-Krai will be after this power for their own agenda.
Talking about organizations, the developers teased that Fatui will be up against the Frostmoon Scions, who worship the moon. On the other hand, the Abyss organization, Wild Hunt, will be against the Lightkeepers. Meanwhile, you’ll also find the Voynich Guild in Nasha Town, with the Curatorium of Secrets being a highlight.
When Will Nod-Krai Be Released?
In regards to the roadmap and release date (the biggest question of all), Aquaria revealed that Nod-Krai is at the edge of Teyvat, and it’ll be released after the Version 5.8 update. They also mentioned that the story of Nod-Krai will last for a whole year, with a special version series called “Song of the Welkin Moon”.
While there wasn’t a definite release date, Genshin Impact teased that Nod-Kraicould be released on Jul 18, 2025, since one of their redeem codes had “0910” at the end. This is also exactly six weeks after the Version 5.8 release date if they follow the normal update cycle, which fits perfectly.
