Summary
There’s only one thing we want from George R.R. Martin, and it’s for him to finish that damn book. However, he’s always off on some side quest or the other instead of working onWinds of Winter. WithGame of Thronesending the way it did, fans are desperate to get some closure via the books, but it seems Martin has other ideas.
His latest distraction is an animated movie about Hercules. As reported byThe Hollywood Reporter, Martin has joined on as a co-producer for A Dozen Tough Jobs, a movie that will retell the story of Hercules' 12 labours. The movie is an animated adaptation of the novel by Howard Waldrop, which has set the retelling in 1920s Mississippi, with visuals by Blue Eye Samurai studio, Blue Spirit

More Distractions To Keep George R.R. Martin Away From Winds Of Winter
“If anyone understands the power of epic stories and expansive franchises, it’s George R.R. Martin,” said Lion Forge Entertainment CEO and founder David Steward II. “With A Dozen Tough Jobs, we’re reimagining a timeless legend through fresh, culturally rich lenses. This isn’t just a retelling — it’s a groundbreaking take, unlike anything audiences have seen before, grounded in history but pushing myth into uncharted territory.”
Not much else is known about the project, but Game of Thrones fans will probably be disappointed with this news. Sure, Martin is probably working on the book, but history has proved that it’s not a priority for him. In fact, Martin has also called Winds of Winter his “curse”.

“That’s the curse of my life here. There’s no doubt Winds of Winter is 13 years late,“he said in an interviewlast month. “I’m still working on it. I have periods where I make progress and then other things divert my attention.” With the author now being 76 years old, there are genuine concerns by fans that he might not finish the series before he passes away.
“Maybe they’re right,” Martin joked at the time. “I don’t know. I’m alive right now! I seem pretty vital!”
