Summary
Helldivers 2developer Arrowhead has finally acknowledged how long it’s been since we last heard anything about the game’s next major update, and promised that it’s “cooking” on the next big thing.
For a time,Helldivers 2 was one of the biggest games on the market and certainly one of PlayStation’s biggest success stories. That changed a little thanks to many controversial decisions like thePSN sign-in requirement for Steam usersandthe constant nerfs, but even up until the end of 2024, Helldivers 2 was still a big deal.

Ever since the long-awaited debut of the Illuminate in the Omens of Tyranny update, both Helldivers 2 and Arrowhead have been surprisingly quiet about what comes next for the game. After months of constant updates, the silence has certainly been noticed by fans, but it’s one that’ll hopefully be broken soon.
“We Are Cooking”
As pointed out by GamesRadar+,the official Helldivers 2 Twitter account recently shared a new postthat finally acknowledged the long wait for new information. The post points out that the team “know it’s been a while since our last update”, but that it’s currently “cooking” something up for players.
Arrowhead also took the chance to note that thegap between major updates and Warbond releases has been a little longer than before, but that it’ll be announcing the next Warbond in just over a week on May 8. That’s in addition to “more exciting news to come not long after”, so it seems the break was just to build up some new big content.

Until then: stand up straight, polish those boots and keep that uniform in tip-top condition, Helldivers. You’ll be needing them for the fight to come. - Arrowhead
As if that wasn’t enough of a tease for the future of Helldivers 2,Arrowhead ended its message by noting that players are going to be needing to be preparedfor “the fight to come”. While the Illuminate are certainly the biggest enemy in the game right now, that does make it sound like something even deadlier is on its way to the game.

While the semi-update was more of a promise to players that the game isn’t done with right now than it was a proper announcement, it shouldease the worries of those who thought that Omens of Tyranny was the last we’d see of Helldivers 2. Let’s just hope the new changes and additions aren’t too controversial this time around.
