Hollow Knight: The Sanctuary, a fan-made expansion that was announced all the way back in 2021, has re-emerged out of nowhere to confirm that it’s “alive” and more news is coming soon.

Considering theSilksong-sized elephant in the room,it can often feel like all Hollow Knight fans have had to do over the past few years is sit around waitingfor something to happen. That’s certainly the case when it comes to official releases, but it also applies to some of the ambitiousfan-made projects that have popped up since Hollow Knight first released.

Which brings us to Hollow Knight: The Sanctuary,a fan-made project that acts as a free expansion to Hollow Knight and sees players exploring a new area, the titular Sanctuary. Hollow Knight: The Sanctuary Is Alive, And More News Is Coming In The Next Few Weeks

We Really Might Get Sanctuary Before Silksong

As pointed out by GamesRadar+, the announcement that Hollow Knight: The Sanctuary is alive and well comes from a tweet made by Stizzl, one of the leading members of The Sanctuary team. Out of nowhere a few days ago,Stizzl tweeted a gameplay clip from The Sanctuary and eased everyone’s concernsby simply saying, “The Sanctuary is alive”.

The new footage gives us a brief but new look at The Sanctuary in action, and confirms once again that it’s aiming to be quite an ambitious project. While there wasn’t much more shared about it beyond the fact that it hasn’t been cancelled in the nearly four years since it was announced,Stizzl did give a bit of an update in the tweet’s replies.

The Sanctuary was previously promised to feature “all-new custom assets, a soundtrack handcrafted by well-known Hollow Knight musicians”, and “a whole lot more”.
