Of all the amazing things present inXenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, Skells might just be the coolest. Up until the point you get a Skell of your own, many of the Skells present in the game’s cutscenes seem to be capable of flight. Unfortunately, your shiny new Skell doesn’t come with the ability to fly as standard.
However, there is a solution, and it’s called the Skell Flight Module. This article will detail how to obtain the Skell Flight Module in order to take to the skies in your very own Skell.

Quest Prerequisites
Like any other major quest in this game, the affinity quest that unlocks Skell Flight hasa few prerequisitesbefore you may accept the mission. Thankfully, they’re not too complicated,so it shouldn’t take too long to start this quest for yourself.
Once you’ve fulfilled these conditions, head over to the Outfitters Test Hangar in the Industrial Districtof New Los Angeles to begin the quest.

Affinity Quest - A Girl’s Wings
The affinity quest to unlock Skell Flight, titledA Girl’s Wings, begins withLin putting the finishing touches on her personally designed flight Skell.Unfortunately,it still needs a few necessary partsin order to properly function, so Commander Vandhamsends you out to get them.
You only need toget two materialsfor this part of the quest, and they’re pretty easy to acquire.
Once you obtain both of these materials, return to the Outfitters Test Hangar in the Industrial Districtof New Los Angeles.
Upon returning to Lin and Vandham, the Skell that Lin designed for the flight test explodes, causing the arms manufacturers who were supporting the project to begin reconsidering their approval of this concept. Vandham is very angry with this turn of events, butallows Lin to try again, using the materials you procured.
By the next day,Lin has repaired the Skell,so that it’s perfectly safe and ready for flight. After a few words, you’retasked with flying to a specified point for the test, which is actuallyFN Site 110, which has been inaccessible up until this point in the game.
To get there, you may simplyfly out of the top of New Los Angelesand headtowards the large arching mountainthat covers much of Primordia. On top, you’ll seea laser marking the point where you can place down a probe, which you have to do for this part of the quest.
Once the probe is placed, you’llreceive a callfrom Lin and Vandhamconfirming the successof the test. From there, justhead back to the Outfitters Test Hangarto complete the quest.
We highly recommend completing this quest in one sitting and not going off the beaten path. We’re unsure if you’re able to fight enemies while inside this test Skell, but the quest does say to not get a scratch on the Skell, so we say it’s best to follow that advice.
When youreturn to the Outfitters Test Hangar, Vandham will congratulate you for a perfect test flight, and say that Flying Skells will now enter mass production, marking the end of this quest.
As a bonus, every Skell you already own will receive an automatic upgradeso it’s capable of flying.
It’s important to note thatflying your Skell does consume fuel, unlike running or jumpingwith your Skell on the ground. It doesn’t consume fuel very fast, but it’s important tobe sure that you don’t accidentally run out of fuel while exploring,or even worse, while you’re in battle against a tough enemy.
With a Skell capable of flight at your disposal, the entire world of Mira opens up to you.you may use your Skell to reach previously unreachable areas, place every possible probe on the map, and discover secretsyou could never have dreamed of while on the ground. With this upgrade, the sky truly is the limit.
