2025 has already been full of releases that come out of nowhere and surprise us, and that trend is continuing thanks toPipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo, a new indie game that’s inspired by both classic Zelda games and modern Metroidvanias.
Although Pipistrello is styled like a Game Boy Advance game, there’s a lot more going on under the retro surface than you might think. In fact, it’s a surprisingly big game that’ll take you some time, whether you’re rushing to the end or collecting everything. Here’s what to expect.

How Long Does It Take To Beat?
Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo’s main quest is split into four sizeable dungeons, each with its own boss battle and a Mega Battery to collect to progress the story. These dungeons are the main event in Pipistrello, and you’ll have to put some work in andunlock special abilities in order to get to and through them.
Each of the main dungeons in Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo takes around three hours to beatif you count all of the set-up and things you’ll need to unlock before you gain access to them. While going through all of these dungeons and collecting everything I could,it took me around 15 hours to complete Pipistrello’s main story, with a few more hours spent on exploring the city and beating side missions.

Outside of these dungeons, you’ll also be able to explore alarge hub world that is packed full of side missions, collectible Badges, and puzzlesthat unlock heart segments and more battle points. As big as the dungeons are, it’s the hub world and all of its optional objectives that are really going to take up your time.
How Long Does It Take To 100 Percent?
By the time I’d rolled credits on Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo,I still had a ton of things to do, collectibles to find, and abilities to unlock. Even after the story was completed, I still hadn’t found all of the badges, worked my way through all of the upgrades, or found all of the heart pieces and battle point segments.
With that in mind,I estimate that it could easily take you another six or seven hours to find and complete everythingthat Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo has to offer, bringing the 100 percent time up to more than 20 hours. Like I said, it’s a surprisingly dense game, with some tough puzzles that will certainly take some time to figure out if you’re interested in seeing everything that it has to offer.
