After you’veconquered the Tricephalos ExpeditioninElden Ring Nightreignand defeated the three-headed Gladius, you’ll unlock six more Nightlords. You can fight these in any order, but next up on the list is the Gaping Jaw.
Defeating them will bring you one step closer to unlocking the final eighth Expedition, the Night Aspect, and thus Nightreign’s ending. They’re a pretty simple fight, arguably moreso than Gladius, but it can be tricky if you’re caught off guard and unprepared. If you go in with the right weapons, learn their weaknesses, and have a strong line-up of Nightfarers, then you’ll have a much easier time.

Adel’s Strengths And Weaknesses
Adel is almost a spiritual successor to the Gaping Dragon. But it’s a much harder fight, given that it’s significantly faster and has arena-spanning attacks. But as long as youscavenge poison weaponsor even have a fewpoison-based Relics, you can easily stop it in its tracks.
Scarlet Rot doesn’t have any unique effectsagainst Adel like poison does.

Weaknesses
To find weapons with Adel’s weaknesses, scout around the map for any locations marked with the accompanying symbol. Poison is especially useful as it will slow down Gladius andforce it to throw up the toxins, giving you a brief window to go all out with your attacks. However, if you step foot into the puddle of vomit, it will also poison you.
Recommended Characters
Given that you want to dole out as much Poison damage as possible during the fight, it’s best to bring along Nightfarers who are adept at inflicting status ailments, as well as a ranged character to keep the pressure on Adel from afar without risking being swept up in its grab attack or roar.
It’s always a good idea to bring a ranged character with you, or at least pick up a bow, since you’re able to revive teammates from a distance.

As such,Executor, Wylder, and Ironeye make for a pretty good team. Executor has a naturally high Arcane stat, making them proficient at inflicting status effects. Ironeye, either via the right bow or with Relics that make his starting weapon inflict Poison, can continue piling the effect on while Executor and Wylder dodge attacks. And Wylder is an all-around good pick simply because he can quickly alternate between ranged and close-distance thanks to his grapple.
Given how much damage Adel inflicts, you’ll need to have a handle on its moveset if you want to play squishier characters like Recluse and Revenant, though their range, combined with the right spells, makes them especially useful. If you feel comfortable that you’re able to avoid its attacks, then these are also good Nightfarers to pick

Adel’s Moveset
Like with most other Nightlords,Adel has two phases. The first is much more subdued, without any of the flashy area of effect attacks that dominate the second half of the fight, butit’s still worth being cautious of his grab attack, asit can catch multiple Nightfarers in one swoop. If you’re unlucky enough to miss the dodge, thenit’ll deal almost guaranteed Bleed, while alsobuffing its other attacks for the next 30 seconds.
Counter
Grab Attack
Adel drags its head along the ground, with purple lightning streaks firing off either side, before lunging at a target to grab. Once inside its maw, they’ll be chomped, with each bite inflicting Bleed. Afterwards, Adel gains a damage buff for 30 seconds.
If grabbed, teammates can free you by attacking Adel.
Roar
Adel will roar twice, stunning nearby Nightfarers, before launching two attacks and a grab.
The roar itself deals no damage. Once you’re free from it, run away and dodge the incoming grab attack.
Lightning Stomp
Adel will stomp its feet and send streaks of lightning across the arena that will explode after a short delay.
you’re able to jump over the slam attacks and even the lightning, despite it shooting up into the air.
Dive Attack
Adel will launch into the air and crash down jaw-first, unleashing lightning all across the arena.
Roll out of the way of the dive, and then jump over the lightning.
Adel’s roar attack is amped up in its second phase. After it ends, it’ll launch two grab attacks instead of one, and the second is much faster and thus harder to dodge.
Much like in the first phase, run away from Adel while or after it roars, and then dodge the incoming grab attacks.
Adel’s second phase will trigger when it reaches half its health, and it starts with a series ofstomping attacks that cause the arena to erupt with purple lightning. When this happens, run away from Adel to the far corners of the arena; this is why ranged characters like Ironeye are especially handy for this fight.
Status effects are much harder to inflict when Adel enters its second phase.
Tips For Beating Adel
Given that its second in the list of Expeditions, it’s hardly surprising thatAdel is one of the easier bosses. So long as you find Poison weaponry, you should have no problem staying in control.
Complimenting the weapons, there are numerous Relics you can find that make the fight easier, such as ones thatboost your damage against poisoned enemies. If you have a hard time, don’t feel bad about pausing and moving onto another Nightlord,so that you can come back with a stronger build.
As you explore Limveld, you should alsokeep an eye out for any boons that improve your dodge windows, as these will make avoiding Adel’s grab attack far easier, especially in the second phase.
Once you do conquer this Expedition, you’ll be one step closer to fighting the Night Aspect, which is unlocked after beating four different Nightlords.
